One of the most notable figures in the acting world today is the Disney Channel alum, who has been making waves and headlines with her extremely successful career and accomplishments over the last two years alone.
In addition to receiving a lot of praise and positive feedback for her performance as Rue Bennett, the leading character in the final season of Euphoria, in the film world. Her name seems to be popping up everywhere. In 2026 alone, she's starring in A24's The Drama, Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, the fourth film in the superhero franchise, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and later this year will appear in the anticipated third and final film of the Dune series, Dune: Part Three.
Though she's received accolades like an Emmy award for her roles, and is expected to receive another or potentially an Oscar nomination in the future, there are some people who aren't as convinced that she's as good a performer as many say she is. Earlier this week, a pop culture-related Instagram account shared a post where they compared her facial expressions in The Odyssey and Dune, sarcastically writing, "The many facial expressions of Zendaya," as she's making a similar face in the four photos.
Social Media Users Weigh In On Zendaya's Acting & The Viral Post
The post garnered a lot of attention on Instagram, receiving over 22,000 likes and hundreds of comments. Half of those comments backed up the 29-year-old, while the other half couldn't get over what they were looking at.
Some of the social media users who interacted with the post claimed it was "ridiculous," and that it unfairly used screengrabs of her making a serious face instead of scenes where she's genuinely portraying different emotions. Others, however, supported the post and agreed that Zendaya was an "overhyped" performer.
"I don't have any clue how she's this big Hollywood star," commented a user.
"By force she is everywhere," wrote another.
One user called Zendaya the "most overhyped actress ever," as another commented, "She gives no emotion."
