The internet is divided over Heidi Klum’s Halloween costume this year, with some fans praising her incredible attention to detail while others say the gruesome look was simply too disturbing.
The German model stunned guests at her 25th annual Halloween party in New York City by transforming herself into an approximately 8-foot-tall severed human hand. Inspired in part by Thing from The Addams Family, the elaborate costume was modeled after Klum’s own left hand.
The giant prosthetic featured long red nails, replica engagement and wedding rings, a thumb ring, visible veins, and even a tattoo of her husband Tom Kaulitz’s name on the ring finger.

Klum’s entire body was concealed inside the enormous structure, with only her eyes and mouth visible through an opening in the center, surrounded by realistic-looking bloody ligaments and tendons.
The elaborate creation was designed by prosthetic artist Mike Marino and his team, who spent four months bringing the concept to life. On the night of the party, Klum reportedly needed around five to six hours to get into the costume.
In the days leading up to Halloween, the mom of four had been teasing her look on Instagram, prompting fans to share their guesses about what she might wear. However, her final reveal surprised many, with some admitting they never would have predicted such an unusual transformation.
As expected, the gruesome costume quickly sparked mixed reactions online. While some fans were impressed by the realistic prosthetics and praised Klum for going all out, others were left feeling grossed out by the bloody details.
“I love whatever is wrong w her,” one person commented.
“THIS IS PROB THE WORLDS BEST PROSTHETIC EVER CREATED… this is INSANE… how heavy that must be for her, and no claustrophobia? So wild. She goes so hard for this,” another wrote.

Heidi Reveals Her Inspiration Behind Her Severed Hand Costume
Speaking to PEOPLE at the event, Klum explained how she came up with the unusual idea, revealing that the inspiration came from simply looking at her own hand.
“I was looking at my hand and I was like, ‘Hmm ... I wonder if I could fit in a hand,’” she said. “I was looking at my fingers, and I was like, ‘Fingers could actually be legs.’”
She continued, “Then my arms could be more fingers and I could put my body in there somehow, so that’s what I proposed to [makeup designer Mike Marino].”
Marino and his team spent four months constructing the costume after approximately a year of brainstorming, turning Klum’s unusual concept into one of her most elaborate Halloween transformations yet.
