The mom of two recently confirmed her return as Katniss Everdeen during an appearance on Alex Cooper’s Call Her Daddy podcast, ending months of speculation about whether she would appear in the upcoming prequel. The actress will reunite with Josh Hutcherson, who is also reprising his role as Peeta Mellark, and Woody Harrelson, who will return as Haymitch Abernathy.
The new movie, The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, is based on the novel of the same name and follows a young Haymitch as he competes in the 50th Hunger Games. While the film takes place decades before the events of the original franchise, it will also feature a reunion with some of its most famous characters. During her interview, Jennifer said she was especially emotional about reuniting with her former co-stars and the crew she worked with on the original movies.
“It was so crazy,” she admitted. “Because it was the same crew, it was the same camera guys, the same AD who I’ve worked with a million times too, because I love him. And Josh and Woody … and it was so emotional. Josh and I didn’t walk to the bathroom without our arms around each other; it was so beautiful.”
