Many controversial – dare we even say ugly – trends have dominated the catwalks, sidewalks, and red carpets over the years, including the dad jacket, fisherman sandals, and so much more. Now it seems like it’s finally the turn of the heeled flip-flop trend.
Once dismissed as impractical or outdated, the heeled flip-flop has been reimagined with sleeker silhouettes, subtle kitten heels, and minimalist straps, giving it a more elevated, fashion-forward feel. And the revamped heeled flip-flop trend already has the A-list sartorial stamp of approval!
We predict we’re going to be seeing a lot more of them this spring/summer if the celebs have anything to do with it. If you’re still not convinced, check out how the likes of Lily Collins, Bella Hadid, Elle Fanning, and Miley Cyrus have been rocking theirs lately…

Lily Collins
The Emily in Paris star, 37, was spotted in Palm Springs wearing an effortlessly stylish outfit consisting of a white Leset Pointelle cropped cardigan, capri pants, dark sunglasses, and – perhaps most controversially of all – black heeled flip-flops.
Her look is a great example of how the trend works in an off-duty setting, with the simple silhouette keeping things relaxed, while the slight heel adds a polished edge. The pared-back styling also taps into the wider '90s resurgence – and the renewed fascination with the late Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy's minimalist aesthetic – where clean lines and understated pieces are very much back on trend.

Elle Fanning
The Maleficent actress, 27, and her older sister Dakota Fanning have long been regarded as trendsetters – and she was clearly ahead of the curve when it comes to heeled flip-flops, stepping out in hers back in 2022.
The Girl from Plainville star was papped leaving her hotel in Cannes wearing an 'Ellita Keyhole Cady' maxi dress from The Row, teamed with the brand's leather 'Constance' heeled flip-flops. She added a pop of color with a bold red Gucci 'Blondie' bag. We love the juxtaposition of the feminine, floaty dress with the pared-back, effortless sandals.

Bella Hadid
The 29-year-old The Beauty actress flaunted both her sculpted abs and her style prowess when she was papped in New York City in a head-turning monochrome outfit.
The ensemble featured black capri pants – another style staple making a comeback – a white Guizio cropped top, a black Coach bag, dark sunglasses, and Sandy Liang heeled flip-flops. It's a perfect example of how the trend fits seamlessly into the current '90s and early 2000s sartorial revival.

Miley Cyrus
Everyone is talking about the 33-year-old "Flowers" singer right now thanks to the 20th anniversary of Hannah Montana – but her style deserves just as much attention.
The Grammy winner looked ultra-glamorous in New York City last year in an all-black Alaïa knitted co-ord, styled with dark shades and black heeled flip-flop sandals. An unexpected choice, but now we can't imagine the outfit being finished off with anything else!
