Donald Trump Says He & JD Vance Have Never Discussed A 2028 Endorsement In New Interview
The awkward exchange took place in the Oval Office on October 20th, when the president appeared at a White House event announcing a whistleblower reward program. With the vice president standing nearby, a reporter asked the president about JD's recent comments suggesting Trump would endorse him if he decided to run in 2028.
The 80-year-old did not offer his support, instead praising his former running mate while emphasizing that the two had not discussed the possibility.
"He's a very talented person, and he's a very good person, but we've literally, I don't think we've ever talked about it," the president said in a clip that can be seen here.
The Hillbilly Elegy author, whose cheeks appeared to turn red as he laughed, quickly chimed in to agree with the president, saying, "No, sir, I said that too."
The Apprentice star went on to say it was still too early to discuss the next presidential election, adding that the focus needed to remain on the upcoming midterms.
