If you love McDonald’s and you’re trying to lose weight, you know how difficult it can be to lessen your dependency on it over time.
One of the best ways to curb your McDonald’s or overall fast food addiction is to find ‘dupe’ versions of your favorite menu items at the grocery store that offer more protein and nutrients than premade fast food does. However, sometimes they can be hard to find.
Luckily, a fitness coach, Ryan Bahnmiller, known as ‘The Riptor,’ is a content creator who shares lots of valuable information with his TikTok followers. He made a video about two McDonald’s menu item dupes that can be found at Costco for cheaper and contain much more protein, making it easier for you to shed pounds and get fit. He covers one savory and one sweet item, meaning you can cover your bases in terms of cravings. Read more about his Costco dupe, which can be found below.

McDonald's Sausage McMuffin vs Jimmy Dean's English Muffin Delights
"A Sausage [and] Egg McMuffin cost about $2 each, but at Costco, you can get 12 of these for just over $10," says Ryan in one of his TikTok videos as he holds a box of the Jimmy Dean product. The Jimmy Dean Delights product line has a turkey sausage, egg white, and cheese English muffin sandwich that comes in packages of 12 at Costco. While they're still processed food, if you love having a premade breakfast sandwich around, they're not a terrible choice!
Each sandwich contains 260 calories and 18 grams of protein. The McMuffin contains almost double the amount of calories at 480.
"If you're trying to build muscle, making your own sandwich is the best option," adds Ryan. "But for this price and okay macros, it's a better alternative than McDonald's."

The McDonald's Yogurt Parfait vs Chobani Greek Yogurt
Many people ordered the McDonald's Yogurt Parfait, thinking it was a healthy option, but in reality, it was loaded with sugar. Before getting yourself any type of yogurt or 'sweet' breakfast item from a fast food establishment, you'll want to pause and take a look at the nutrition facts beforehand.
Ryan suggests picking up a package of Chobani Greek yogurt cups from Costco, preferably ones that contain higher amounts of protein and no added sugars.
"If you're trying to lose weight and build muscle, Chobani Greek yogurt is a great alternative," says Ryan.
"[It has] about triple the amount of protein, even less calories, [and] the zero sugar is a great option. You can add some granola as well."
The beauty of grabbing packages of these products is that they are also an on-the-go item that guarantees more protein and less sugar than other seemingly healthy fast food breakfasts or snacks. You can stick them in a lunchbox with a cooler pack and some fresh fruit and call it a day!
