Hulu Raises Prices For Its Monthly Subscription Plans

On September 23rd, Disney announced that it would be increasing the prices of several Disney+ and Hulu subscription plans. The new rates went into effect immediately for new subscribers, while existing customers began seeing the higher prices on their next monthly bills in October.

Under the new pricing structure, Hulu's ad-supported plan increased from $11.99 to $12.49 per month, while its ad-free plan jumped from $18.99 to $21.49 per month. The ad-free Disney+ and Hulu bundle also increased from $19.99 to $21.99 per month, although the ad-supported bundle remained at $12.99.

Hulu Subscribers Are Threatening To Cancel Their Subscriptions

The latest price increase has left many Hulu subscribers frustrated, with some taking to social media to share their disappointment and question whether the streaming service is still worth the cost. While some users are upset about having to pay more for a service that already includes advertisements, others say the latest hike is the final straw after years of rising subscription prices.

"I started at $69, and now in 2 years, you went to $100!" responded an X user. "CANCELED FOR GOOD."

"Thanks for letting me know so I can cancel," posted another, sharing an image of their Hulu price increase notification.

"Do y'all realize we literally GOT RID OF CABLE to save money, and now we're paying for Netflix, Hulu, Max, Disney+, Peacock, Prime Video, and somehow spending MORE than we did with cable?" a user asked. "We really let them convince us that paying for 7 different subscriptions was better than one cable bill, just for them to slowly recreate the same thing. At what point do we admit we got played?"

"This last price increase on Hulu Live TV will be my last," noted another. "I got Hulu TV in 2018 for $40 a month. Three years ago it was $72 a month. They are raising it to $100 a month. I might as well have cable or DirecTV at this point. See ya."
