Donald Trump’s granddaughter, Kai Trump, is facing backlash and allegations after she replaced audio of her grandfather being booed at a New York Knicks game with applause on social media.
The 19-year-old is being called out on various social media platforms after she shared a video of herself and her famous grandfather standing during the national anthem at Game 3 of the NBA Finals in Madison Square Garden. The president was famously booed by hundreds of people in the venue during the song, but when Kai shared footage from it on her Instagram, the background noise sounded more like applause, leading to people calling her out online. Kai Trump Posts Video Of Her & Donald Trump At The Knicks Game With Switched Audio
One of the most talked-about events in pop culture is the NBA Finals, with the New York Knicks putting on a historic performance with people from around the world cheering them on against the San Antonio Spurs.
There have been numerous celebrities attending the game, some sitting courtside and others joining rowdy fans in the big crowds. However, one of the most notable attendees was President Donald Trump, who shut down one of the busiest parts of Midtown Manhattan to attend the third game at Madison Square Garden. He sat in a VIP box suite along with several friends, families, and members of his administration. His 19-year-old granddaughter, Kai, joined him as well and stood next to him.
Arguably, the most viral moments of the evening were when everyone in Madison Square Garden sang the Star Spangled Banner, and when the main screen in the venue showed the president saluting alongside his granddaughter, the room erupted in booing noises, which can be heard in various clips online taken at different angles. However, when Kai decided to share a clip of her and her grandfather standing during the national anthem at the game on Instagram, the booing was clearly replaced with an audio of applauding noises. Social Media Users Slam Kai For Reportedly Swapping The Audio
The young competitive golfer certainly was not the first person to support the 79-year-old president, who attempted to cover up the sounds of the booing and criticism at the game with a different kind of track that changed the narrative, as numerous users attempted to do the same.
But because the footage of the Apprentice star getting booed had already been broadcast and shared on social media, many users could tell the difference right away. On platforms like Instagram, users called out Kai and slammed her for switching the audios.
"That's embarrassing, changing the audio," commented a user under her post.
"Girl, your face says it all!" wrote another. "You and Grandpa were booed!"
"Lying runs in the family," a user added, with another writing, "Oh dear, Kai…you forgot to add the national anthem. Yikes!"
"Imagine changing the audio when millions of people saw what happened in real time," commented a user.
