Wendy’s fans are talking about declining quality on Reddit yet again after one user shared a photo of a severely disappointing Crispy Chicken Sandwich.
“Haven’t been to Wendy’s for at least 6 months — probably over a year ago… chicken looks half as thick vs historical and shredded lettuce instead of whole leaves,” the user wrote. According to them, it looked nothing like it used to. They said the patty was “half the amount of chicken it used to be,” and noted that their meal—a single cheeseburger, a large fry, and the sandwich—totaled $15.17.
Wendy’s regulars chimed in to share similar experiences in the comments. Many said they’ve noticed smaller portion sizes, thinner patties, and a switch from whole-leaf lettuce to shredded. For some, these changes have completely ruined the sandwich. Read more about what everyone is saying below.

“One of the Best to One of the Worst”
In the comments, longtime Wendy’s fans aren’t holding back when it comes to expressing their anger over the downfall of their favorite fast food chain. One user lamented that “Wendy’s has been trying to lose customers for a while now,” adding, “They went from one of the best to one of the worst. Real shame, because they used to be so good.”
Others said the decline has gotten so bad that people are choosing other fast-food chains instead. “Wendy’s has become so bad people will wait for 30-plus minutes to get OK Taco Bell instead of biting the bullet and saying, screw it, let’s just grab some Wendy’s.” Rough! However, even Taco Bell fans have been complaining about shrinkflation lately.
“Wendy’s died when Dave died,” one commenter wrote. “It’s just been slower for the actual death.”

Shrinking Patties
Across the thread, customers accuse Wendy’s of "aggressive and shameless" shrinkflation. Some pointed out that the chicken and burger patties have gotten noticeably smaller, describing the latest versions as "pathetically thin."
One user called the sandwich a "spicy chicken wafer," while another said, "Damn, that’s one sad-looking patty. I used to get their chicken burgers regularly before inflation started kicking my ass. Sucks to see the quality tank that much in just a year."
Many also argued that the food "is no longer tasty or a good value," pointing out that prices have gone up even as portion sizes have shrunk. That's shrinkflation for you!
The frustration isn’t limited to customers, either. One commenter claimed their 19-year-old nephew recently quit his Wendy’s job because he "could not stand the way shredded lettuce feels when making sandwiches." The lettuce change, they said, was "the final straw."
All in all, customers seem to agree that they’re ready to take their business elsewhere, calling the changes "a real shame." Will you be joining them?
