Victoria Beckham is opening up about daughter Harper Beckham‘s struggles with acne—and how the experience inspired the teenager to dream of launching her own beauty brand.

But while the fashion designer‘s story was meant to highlight Harper’s entrepreneurial spirit, some social media users accused the Beckham family of leaning too heavily into nepotism.

During a recent appearance on Aspire with Emma Grede, Victoria recalled how the 15-year-old’s skin issues began several years ago after experimenting with skincare products that weren’t right for her complexion.

Victoria Beckham Reveals Harper’s Skin Struggles

“She came to me two, three years ago and she was really struggling with her skin,” the former singer explained.

“She used to have beautiful skin, but then, like all young girls, she was enticed by certain beauty brands and she was putting a lot of product on her face that was not suitable for her skin and consequently ended up going to the dermatologist because her skin was really, really bad.”

Victoria said she immediately understood what her daughter was going through because she’d battled acne herself for years.

“I went through that journey myself,” she shared. “You know, I suffered with child acne, teenage acne, adult acne. I mean, every acne under the sun, I’ve been there.”

According to Victoria, Harper’s experience didn’t just leave her frustrated—it sparked a business idea.

“She said, ‘I really want to create a brand because I know what I want, what I can’t find and I don’t want other people to have to go through what I have been through.'”

The mom of four revealed that Harper even put together a PowerPoint presentation outlining her skincare concept.

“She came to me with a little PowerPoint presentation,” she laughed. “She had two PowerPoint presentations—one about this brand that she wanted to create because she was struggling with her skin…”

Fans Were Divided By Victoria's Story

Not everyone was convinced by Victoria's story, with many social media users accusing the Beckham family of using Harper's experience to tease another celebrity beauty brand.

"Love Victoria but don't buy this story one bit! When did Harper ever have bad skin?? Who was buying the unsuitable products? There's no real struggle when you're a multi millionaire with access to the best products/therapists etc!" one person wrote.

Another commented, "It's the oldest story in the book; I want to create something I can't find. It's painful to listen to this about a young teenager developing a brand. I mean, who wrote this script."

Others questioned whether Harper should already be thinking about launching a business. "Of course she did Victoria! Any excuse to exploit your offspring for Brand Beckham," one user wrote.

Another added, "Victoria is jumping on this mega trend all celebrities have launched—Kylie, Rhode, Rare Beauty, Fenty, the list is endless—and branding is very lucrative. Look at Victoria already marketing it, soft launching it!"

Some commenters also questioned Harper's age, with one writing, "You lost me at 'she wanted to create a brand' diva pls she's 14 what power point presentation."

Another asked, "And what will that cost the average teenager VB?! Another money making moment. Harper has always been in the limelight like all your children, she's never been seen to have bad skin, just tell the truth it's all your idea."

Others felt Harper should simply be allowed to enjoy being a teenager.

"This teenager should be leading the life of a teen...not marketing a product. No average teen could fund a new product....give her a break to have a normal life," one person commented.

Another summed up the criticism by writing, "You are monetising your teenage daughter."

Although Harper Beckham hasn't officially launched a skincare brand yet, she is reportedly developing one called HIKU by Harper. The line is expected to target Gen Z and Gen Alpha consumers with South Korean-inspired skincare products designed for acne-prone teenage skin.

According to Victoria, the project is something Harper has pursued herself. "At the same time, she's still at school. She's studying her GCSEs... But that is her passion. That is what she wants to do," Victoria said.

Outside of school, Harper is frequently seen alongside her famous family, regularly attending Victoria Beckham's fashion shows, red carpet events, and other high-profile family appearances.
