As a former honoree at the event, the AGT judge has a personal journey with cancer. Diagnosed with thyroid cancer at the young age of 28, Vergara discovered a lump on her throat in 2000.
With no symptoms to experience, she still took proactive steps and sought medical attention which led to her undergoing surgery and radiation treatment.

The Colombian-born star underwent another surgery this past week, but fear not—it was just a knee operation! Always one to find the silver lining, she seized the chance to go Instagram official with her surgeon boyfriend, Dr. Justin Saliman, while on the path to recovery.
In her Instagram story on Saturday, the Griselda star wrote, "If u ever get a [major] knee surgery make sure u Get a handsome doctor who will sleep with u that night!!!! Luv u Dr @jdsaliman."
This marks the first public acknowledgment of her relationship with the doctor, following several sightings of them enjoying dates together over the past few months.
