Savannah Guthrie Returns To 'Today Show' Set To Visit Her Colleagues
One of the news stories that has been officially rattling the nation for over a month has been the sudden disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of famous talk show co-host, Savannah Guthrie, who has been a beloved presence on the Today Show since 2012.
The search for Nancy has been extensive and emotionally draining for the Guthrie family, and has had the Today co-anchor staying with her siblings and other family members near her mother's home in Tucson, Arizona, as they look for her. Since then, she's shared numerous posts and videos, begging anyone who might have any information on the tragic, supposed abduction to come forward and help "bring her home."
Not long ago, NBC Studios revealed that the famously retired Today host, Hoda Kotb, would be filling in for Savannah as she continues to search for her mom. However, earlier today, she made her return to the set for the first time since her mom went missing, where she was photographed embracing her colleagues and receiving their support. A Spokesperson For Savannah Says She'll 'Return' To The Show Eventually
As the headline-making search for her elderly mother continues, many fans of the 54-year-old have been wondering what that means for her future on Today, and whether or not she would ever want to go back to work.
Despite her friend filling in for her and her need to be with her family, as news of her on-set reunion broke, a spokesperson for Savannah made a statement to confirm that one day, she will return to work.
"[Savannah] stopped by the studio this morning to be with and thank her TODAY colleagues," the statement said, as reported by People. "While she plans to return to the show on air, she remains focused right now supporting her family and working to help bring Nancy home."
On social media platforms like Instagram, fans of the famous talk show showed their support and empathy for the reporter.
"She looks exhausted and heartbroken," commented a fan. "Please bring resolution."
"Feel so sorry for her family and all families of missing people," wrote another. "It has to be an unbearable pain to go through."
