Following her headline-making trip to space, Lauren Sánchez is opening up about a more personal journey: living with ADHD and dyslexia.

In a candid video shared on Instagram this week, the former journalist appeared effortlessly polished in a charcoal-gray denim jacket layered over a nude top. She wore her dark hair in soft, face-framing layers with a side part and kept her makeup natural, opting for a rosy lip and fresh-faced glow.

Lauren Sánchez Share Candid Video About Her Dyslexia & ADHD

During the video, the 59-year-old discussed the strategies that have helped her navigate ADHD and dyslexia throughout her life. Among the tools she credited were audiobooks, writing things down to help with memory retention, and using fidget toys to stay focused. She also revealed that her children had a unique way of helping her stay on track—calling her by her first name, Wendy, whenever they noticed she was getting distracted.

She captioned the post: “A few things that help me with my dyslexia and ADHD. Took me years to figure out what works for my brain (and I’m still learning new ways). What works for you?”

Followers quickly filled the comments section with supportive messages, praising Sánchez for being open about her experience.

“This is so touching and generous! You are, undoubtedly, helping so many,” one person wrote. Another commented, “Love your kindness and energy, Lauren.”

“This lady is just beautiful and charming,” a third fan added. Others applauded her vulnerability, with one writing, “Your openness is both refreshing and inspiring!” Another supporter shared, “I don’t care what people say about you, I think you’re fabulous.”

Lauren Sánchez Becomes An Empty Nester

As college send-off season ramps up, the helicopter pilot is opening up about the emotional side of becoming an empty nester.

Nearly a year into her marriage to Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, Sánchez is now preparing for another major life transition: her daughter Ella leaving home for college later this year.

During an appearance on the Today show earlier this year, Lauren reflected on parenting her three children—her eldest son, Nikko Gonzalez, 25, whose father is former NFL star Tony Gonzalez, and her younger son Evan Whitesell and daughter Ella, whom she shares with ex-husband Patrick Whitesell.

Sánchez admitted that she handled her sons’ departures fairly well. “When my boys went to college, I was like, ‘Let’s move along, let’s get out of the house,’” she joked. “One is graduated, one is in college right now.”

But Ella’s upcoming departure has hit differently. “I went to dinner with her the other night, and I started talking about her going to college, and I just started crying,” Sánchez revealed.

Instead of comforting her, Ella found the moment amusing. “She started laughing at me. She was like, ‘You’re not ready for this.’ And she’s right—I am so not ready for this,” Sánchez said with a laugh. “That’s a teenage girl right there.”

When co-host Craig Melvin asked how she feels about entering the empty-nester phase, Sánchez joked that she wants a new name for it altogether. “I don’t like saying ‘empty nester,’” she said. “I prefer ‘egg launcher’ or maybe ‘bird launcher.’”

Despite the humor, Sánchez’s comments struck a relatable chord with parents facing the same bittersweet transition of watching their children grow up and move on to the next chapter.
