Kate Middleton and her three children – Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis – were booed by anti-monarchists at the 2026 Trooping the Color celebrations on June 13th.

The Princess of Wales and her children were traveling along The Mall in a carriage when they experienced booing from anti-monarchy protesters. Prince William was not traveling with his wife and children, as he was participating in the parade on horseback. He later joined them on the Buckingham Palace balcony for the traditional flypast, where the crowd appeared to be far more supportive and cheers largely drowned out the boos. Kate Middleton And Her Three Kids Booed While Traveling In A Carriage During Trooping The Color

The Princess of Wales, dressed in a stunning powder blue Catherine Walker coat dress and matching blue Philip Treacy hat, had a very blank and serious expression in a viral clip featuring her and the children. She wasn't smiling, gave only a brief wave, and appeared protective of her three children as they traveled along the route.

Prince George was briefly shown giving a small wave, while Princess Charlotte seemed especially aware of the boos. Uncomfortable, even. Some of the chants from the anti-monarchy protesters included "not my king" and "not my queen," among others.

The mom-of-three has previous experience of being booed, as she and other members of the royal family were booed while attending the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey in London back in March.

Social Media Reactions

Many people on social media noticed how the Princess of Wales looked and reacted during the boos, with one X user saying: "Kate Middleton looking angry and the kids looking completely uncomfortable and confused, getting booed during Trooping the Color. If looks could kill. Princess Kate didn't like that."

"I think Kate is [expletive] at being booed that's for sure," echoed a second, while a third said: "Kate didn't take being booed to her face very well! Her reaction said it all, she tried to play it down trying a small wave but her face couldn't keep up with the fakery." "She looks hurt," thought a fourth.

Others felt very bad for the children, with a fifth saying: "Grown adults booed children. They should be ashamed of themselves." "Charlotte looks like she wants to cry and Louis looks confused. Why subject your kids to this?" asked a sixth.

"She probably thought the kids would prevent the people from booing," speculated a seventh, adding: "I feel so bad for those kids." "So sad for the kids. They don't have a normal childhood. They should be playing with their pals and having fun, not subjected to a life like this," declared an eighth.
