The country musician is currently facing online backlash after she carried on with her Boston tour stop last week, and a small fire broke out in the rafters of her stage following some pyrotechnics. Attempting not to cause a panic, Kacey calmly addressed the situation before continuing her show. Though there were no injuries, after seeing footage of the incident, numerous internet users accused her of ‘endangering’ both her crew and fans by not ending the show and ordering her audience to evacuate. A Small Fire Breaks Out During Kacey Musgraves’ Concert In Boston
One of the most talked-about summer tours right now is Kacey Musgraves’ Middle of Nowhere tour, where the artist has been tantalizing fans with live performances of her songs from the Western-themed album as well as captivating sets and visuals.
Throughout the show, the singer can be seen walking a rotating, circular stage as colorful visuals and graphics project behind her. At one point in her set, during her hit track “Golden Hour,” pyrotechnics are involved, as sparks fall around the stage. The effect has wowed audiences, but during her show at the TD Garden arena in Boston on Saturday, August 29th, it went wrong.
Following the song, a small fire broke out in the rafters of the circular stage, which Kacey addressed calmly and with a bit of humor.
“That looks bad,” she said, as seen in a video from the show. “Genuinely, something’s on fire. I have way too much hairspray to be standing under that…Anyway, just pretend…I found myself spending a lot of time alone in the making of this album, and I didn’t like spending a lot of time alone. It gives me anxiety…So does that.”
Social Media Users Accuse Kacey Of Putting Her Fans & Crew In Danger
Given the unexpected and surprising nature of the small fire, which reportedly went out on its own minutes after it began, videos and photos of the “concerning” incident quickly went viral on social media.
After seeing the “Dry Spell” vocalist‘s calm nature and how she carried on with the concert despite the fire, some social media users were perturbed by her behavior and took to various platforms to accuse her of being too carefree and of having put her audience and crew members in danger by not halting the show completely or clearing out the venue.
“My venue is burning down, but I’m just gonna continue to endanger my crew, my fans, and venue staff,” wrote a sarcastic Instagram user.
“This video just made me sick with anxiety,” commented another.
One user wrote, “You evacuate… that’s what you do.”
“With large crowds, stopping to admire blazes is always what leads to scores of deaths,” they continued.
“I love Kacey, but the sheer lack of concern as to whether anyone is doing anything to put that out, make sure the venue and crowd are safe, etc., is a bit disconcerting,” a fan added.
