It looks like Julia Roberts may have taken a style cue from Demi Moore.

The Oscar-winning actress stepped out in a modern take on suiting while attending Rise Up, Sing Out: A Concert for the First Amendment at The Town Hall in New York City on June 14. Roberts turned heads in a gray textured suit featuring knee-length Bermuda shorts paired with a matching blazer, putting a fresh spin on classic tailoring.

The Pretty Woman icon styled the look with a white graphic T-shirt featuring Jane Fonda’s face, black pumps, hoop earrings, statement rings, and a pair of reading glasses. Roberts was joined at the event by fellow stars Bette Midler, Lily Gladstone, and Jane Fonda.

The event was an all-star benefit concert and variety show organized by the Committee for the First Amendment. Held at New York City’s historic Town Hall, the evening celebrated free expression while speaking out against censorship and policies viewed as divisive by organizers.

During the program, the mom of three delivered a powerful reading of a poem by former National Youth Poet Laureate Amanda Gorman titled For Renée Nicole Good. The poem honored Renée Nicole Good, a 37-year-old mother of three who was fatally shot in Minneapolis in January by an ICE agent.

“Renée Nicole Good was not a symbol,” Roberts said during her appearance. “She was an American woman, a queer woman, who was doing the very best she could do to be good in an unjust world. I am honored to celebrate her life and legacy because the life she gave is our responsibility to carry.”

Fonda, a longtime activist, also addressed the audience during the event.

“Showing up is an act of hope, and you all give me hope,” Fonda said. “Those rights are for everyone, everyone. And we must defend them for everyone, even if we don’t agree with them.”

She continued, “It’s not about Democrat or Republican, or left or right. It’s about right or wrong. And it is wrong. It is wrong for people to be attacked and called terrorists for exercising their rights and freedoms.”

While the evening focused on advocacy and free speech, Roberts' fashion-forward Bermuda shorts suit also generated buzz, with many noting its resemblance to the tailored shorts trend recently embraced by fellow Hollywood star Demi Moore.

While fans were divided over Demi’s look which she rocked at Cannes film festival this year, Julia got the stamp of approval overall.

On instagram one person said ‘You look amazing.” Another said, “She actually pulls this look off.”
