'The View' Panel Discusses Donald Trump's 'Blasphemous' Image And Disagrees Over The Bible

On the Tuesday, April 14th episode of the daytime show, the panel discussed the public reaction to Donald Trump's "blasphemous" (to quote one critic) AI generated picture which he shared online.

The image (check it out here) appeared to portray him as a Jesus-like figure dressed in a red and white robe, and healing the sick with what looked like holy light emanating from his hand. The image has since been deleted by the POTUS, after he claimed it was simply an attempt to portray himself "as a doctor." After taking the image down, he reportedly said: "I did post it, and I thought it was me as a doctor and had to do Red Cross. It's supposed to be me as a doctor, making people better. And I do make people better. I make people a lot better."

During the discussion, co-host Sara Haines said it appeared to be a case of something being foretold in Scripture, noting: "In Matthew and Mark in the Bible, Jesus alerts his disciples to not be deceived by false prophets who will claim themselves to be the Christ, performing great signs and wonders."

She went on: "Every time [Trump] does these things I can't help but, like, think it's really on-the-nose here. He's literally pretending to be the coming of Christ."

Co-host Sunny Hostin agreed, chiming in: "Let's face it, some of his supporters have likened him to a savior-like figure. And I really hope at this point that they realize that he is a false prophet. No question about it."

Behar, who has faced backlash for her comments on the show many times, then claimed: "Jesus himself did not run around saying, 'I'm the Messiah, I'm the Messiah!'" And Haines instantly fired back: "That's exactly what Jesus said!"

Behar was raised in a Catholic family but has been very open over the years about being agnostic, while also being very critical of organized religion. She then replied: "No, he did not. Jesus was not narcissistic like this guy."

Haines then exclaimed: "When you are the Messiah, it's not narcissism to say it!" Behar was still adamant that she was correct, adding: "Yes, it is."

Social Media Reactions

As expected, social media had many thoughts about this exchange!

"Joy Behar claims Jesus never said he was the Messiah, gets corrected, then says it's 'narcissistic' for Jesus to call himself that. Never has there been a more blasphemous moment on The View," slammed one X user.

"Joy Behar shows just how ignorant she is…she needs to read the Bible, but I suspect she does not have one! Jesus did indeed claim he was the Messiah!" exclaimed a second, followed by the halo emoji. A third said the claim was "shocking," while a fourth branded Behar "sadly ignorant."

"From the Stupid Is As Stupid Says Department: Noted Bible scholar Joy Behar tells national TV audience that Jesus didn't go around saying he was the Messiah," quipped a fifth, as a sixth echoed: "That is so stupid." "Joy Behar proves she's never opened her Bible after claiming Jesus never said he was the Messiah," a seventh chimed in.
