Nepo babies have continued to dominate the fashion industry this year, with several celebrity offspring facing criticism over their access to major campaigns and high-profile opportunities. Now, Heidi Klum’s son, Henry Samuel, is the latest to find himself at the center of the debate after winning a prestigious modeling award.

Henry, whom the supermodel shares with her ex-husband, singer Seal, won the “Model of the Year” award at the Vienna Awards for Fashion & Lifestyle in Vienna, Austria, on October 21, 2026.

The 21-year-old celebrated the achievement on Instagram, sharing photos of himself posing with his award. For the occasion, Henry wore a baby-blue suit featuring a dramatically plunging blazer neckline, which he paired with no shirt underneath. He completed the look with pendant necklaces and smiled for the camera while holding his trophy.

Henry Samuel Wins Model Of The Year

However, his big win was met with skepticism from some social media users, who questioned whether his famous family had helped him secure the recognition. Henry made his runway debut in January 2025 during Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week and has since walked for brands including Kith and GCDS.

Despite building experience in the industry, his latest accolade prompted critics to question whether his success was based on his modeling work or his family connections.

“Model of the year?!?! Did his mom donate the prize????” one user asked in German.

“If mom was on the fire department, he would be firefighter of the year,” another commenter joked.

“Nepo baby of the Year,” a third person declared.

Others brought up the lavish gift his mom gave him for his 21st birthday: a Ferrari. One critic referenced the luxury car while questioning Henry’s achievements, writing, “He has never achieved anything in his life but drive a Ferrari.”

The criticism reflects the broader debate surrounding nepotism in fashion, where children of celebrities often receive significant attention and opportunities early in their careers.

Heidi Klum's Model Children

Henry is one of Klum’s four children. The Project Runway host shares him, Johan Samuel, 19, and Lou Sulola Samuel, 17, with Seal.

Her eldest child, Leni Klum, 22, is the daughter of Italian businessman Flavio Briatore and was later legally adopted by Seal.

Leni has also pursued a modeling career, making her debut in the industry alongside her mother in a campaign for Italian lingerie brand Intimissimi. The mother-daughter pairing previously drew criticism from some social media users, who questioned the decision to feature them together in lingerie advertisements.

More recently, Lou made her Paris Fashion Week debut alongside her mother, adding to the family’s growing presence in the fashion world.

Klum has faced scrutiny over her children’s modeling careers, with critics questioning how quickly they have entered the industry and whether their famous surname gives them an advantage over aspiring models without celebrity connections.

Henry’s latest award has now reignited those conversations, with some fans celebrating his growing career while others remain unconvinced that his “Model of the Year” title was earned without the influence of his famous family.
