Machine Gun Kelly made an unexpected runway appearance at Vogue World: Milano this week, but instead of receiving universal praise, his walk quickly became a topic of discussion online.
The musician took part in the fifth Vogue World event on Tuesday, September 22, walking the runway at Milan’s historic Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. The event, which kicked off Milan Fashion Week, celebrated Italian craftsmanship and innovation.
MGK, whose real name is Colson Baker, stepped onto the runway in a neon orange Byblos jumpsuit paired with gray shoes. He accessorized the look with multiple bracelets, a chain necklace, earrings and his signature nose ring, while the outfit’s rolled-up sleeves and open neckline revealed his tattoos.

The father of two also brought an unexpected accessory to the runway: a cigarette, which he smoked as he walked. Vogue described the accessory as something he “puffed defiantly” during his runway debut.
While the unconventional appearance certainly got people talking, some social-media users weren't convinced that runway modeling was MGK’s calling.
“Causing an epidemic of secondhand embarrassment,” one person wrote.
“Looks like Street Fighter character,” another commented.
“Walking the runway with a joint in hand. Wouldn't expect anything less out of [him],” someone else wrote.
Adding another layer to the moment, Dakota Johnson was reportedly sitting in the front row as MGK made his runway debut. The actress was photographed watching the show, where she appeared to support him from the audience.
The timing comes amid growing romance speculation surrounding the actress and MGK.
Earlier this month, the pair were reportedly spotted at Taylor Swift’s New York City apartment, where sources claimed they were spending time together privately. Neither Johnson nor MGK has publicly confirmed that they are in a relationship.
