Karoline Leavitt‘s longtime makeup artist is opening up about the challenges that come with working for one of the most recognizable faces in the Trump administration—including receiving death threats simply because of her job.
Brittany Danielle, who works with Leavitt in her role as White House press secretary, told IW Features that she’s found herself caught in the crossfire of the intense criticism surrounding President Donald Trump’s administration.
Danielle first described the fast-paced nature of getting the mom of two camera-ready, explaining that there is rarely enough time to complete her hair and makeup before another meeting begins.

"I know that [Leavitt's] got two meetings coming up, and I'll have enough time to blow dry half of her hair and then set up my makeup," Danielle said. "We will literally work where I will only have one of her eyes done, and she has to go to a meeting."
Even while Danielle is applying makeup, Leavitt is often juggling multiple responsibilities.
"[Leavitt is] looking at files, she's reading stuff, she's on her phone, she's in a meeting, she's got 10 people in her office," Danielle said. "And I'm sitting there doing her hair and makeup."
The makeup artist also revealed that taking on such a high-profile political client has exposed her to online abuse.
"I was getting death threats," she said. "People were like, 'I pray every day that you go to hell.'"
Danielle believes much of the hostility stems from people's feelings about politics rather than anything she has personally done. "People talk so much trash, and they don't know the situation," she said.
She continued, "The criticism that comes with working with a politician, it's harsh. A lot of times they're attacking not the makeup artist, but they're attacking the politician, and you just happen to get wrapped up in it."
Danielle also defended Leavitt's beauty routine, noting that critics often underestimate how little time public officials have to spend getting ready.
"Not everybody's propped up in a light where you can spend 15 minutes on skincare," she said. "Especially if you're a politician, you're on the go. Your makeup is the last thing you're thinking of. Those extra 15 minutes, you need to do something else."

Despite the backlash, Danielle said working behind the scenes has given her a different perspective on public service.
"Regardless of whatever someone's political views are, when you see the people tirelessly working behind the scenes for what they believe is best for the interest of the country, it really changes your mindset," she said.
Although Leavitt is one of her highest-profile clients, Danielle also works with Lara Trump and several Fox News personalities. She said working with Leavitt has been one of the most rewarding experiences of her career.
"I really want to make her look beautiful and feel really good," Danielle said. "Working around her is really unlike working with anybody else—and not just because she's press secretary. It's because she really goes to work."
She added that the job often turns into a race against the clock.
"Sometimes I'm laughing hysterically because I'm chasing her down the hall before she goes on, and I'm like, 'Please don't forget to put your lipstick on,' or, 'Don't forget to put your blush on.'"
