Subway is notorious for its ‘footlong’ sandwiches, which customers can customize and fill with their favorite sandwich meats and toppings. However, what was once a hefty, filling sandwich option is now making fans angry.
The popular fast food sandwich chain is getting many complaints from its customers after they’ve noticed the footlong sandwiches have gotten ‘skinnier,’ therefore aren’t able to be filled with as many popular fillings, and are less of a good deal than they used to be. People were already upset when the infamous ‘$5 Footlong’ deal left the menu, and now that the price is higher, they feel the quality has gone down. Read more about it below.

Subway Customers Call Out The 'Skinnier' Footlong Sandwiches On Reddit
One of the most highlighted items on the Subway menu is their footlong sandwiches, which are made with bread rolls that are 12" long, allowing for more room for sandwich meats and fillings. Ordering a footlong sandwich used to be a lot cheaper than it is now, as the restaurant often promoted their $5 footlong deal, which reportedly brought them a lot of business through some creative marketing.
However, the $5 footlong deal began phasing out in 2014, and now, a footlong can cost you $10 or more. Recently, customers who have been shelling out for the footlong sandwiches have been disappointed in their orders, and it's leading them to want to stop eating there. On Reddit, a Subway customer created a post to complain about their recent footlong order, sharing a picture of a rather skimpy sandwich, and captioned it, "the thinnest footlong I've ever seen."
"Anyone else notice [the] skinnier Subway sandwiches?" asked the post's creator.

Subway Fans Call Out The Restaurant's Sandwich Quality On Reddit
Once the post containing pictures of the "skinny" footlong sandwich went viral on Reddit, other former or current Subway consumers shared similar sentiments, complaining about the fast food chain's prices, sandwich quality, and smaller sizes.
"I went to Subway not too long ago, and I might as well have gotten the flatbread," wrote a Reddit user.
"The bread was nothing. After that, I'm not going to Subway anymore."
Another customer, who is now a former customer, wrote that after going to the chain a few days ago, they decided they were "done" with Subway.
"Mine was super skinny," they added. "Quite a joke."
"They're just the worst," wrote an angry Reddit user.
"Subway really went downhill," added another.
Although the famous sandwich chain hasn't acknowledged a dip in the quality of their sandwiches recently, they seem to be another one of many fast food companies that have been receiving more complaints related to "shrinkflation," with food sizes getting smaller and prices getting higher. Those who loved stopping at Subway for a somewhat lighter option than a burger joint may have to think twice before going.
