Paris Hilton is facing backlash after sharing photos and videos of her family’s Halloween costumes, with some social media users accusing the star of making herself the center of attention while her two young children played supporting characters.

On Monday, October 26, the 45-year-old socialite took to X to show off the family’s Beauty and the Beast-themed looks ahead of Halloween.

Hilton dressed as Princess Belle from the beloved Disney movie, wearing a yellow ball gown and brunette hair to recreate the iconic character. Her husband, Carter Reum, transformed into the Beast, sporting blue-and-yellow formal attire and a monstrous mask.

Paris Hilton Slammed Over Halloween Photoshoot With Kids

Meanwhile, the couple’s three-year-old son, Phoenix, dressed as Lumière, the movie’s talking candelabra, while their two-year-old daughter, London, wore a costume inspired by Chip, the adorable teacup.

In the photos and videos, Reum could be seen kneeling before Hilton and holding her hand as she posed in her princess gown. Their children stood in front of the couple in their respective costumes, prompting some critics to argue that the youngsters appeared more like accessories than the stars of their own Halloween looks.

“‘OK sweetie, I’m gonna be the beautiful princess and you get to be a raggedy old teapot, doesn’t that sound fun,’” one person sarcastically wrote on X.

“Stealing spotlight from kids is next level narcissistic,” another commented.

“This is sad! You are not the main character anymore. Let your kids have a childhood,” a third user wrote.

Others were equally critical of the family’s costume choices, with one person saying, “Totally gross to use ur kids as accessories on Halloween. Diabolical.”

“Weird to make yourself the princess and the kid a prop, ngl,” another added.

“What on Earth? Did you really want make yourself the princess and your daughter the matronly teapot?” one commenter asked.

Another person questioned why Hilton’s daughter had not been given the starring role, writing, “Why not have your daughter as the princess and your son the prince? Talk about stealing the spotlight from the kids. I mean your daughters expression says it all.”

“Paris...really? It's time to grow up, you're little girl shouldn't be the old teapot! This is some serious narcissistic behavior,” another critic remarked.

“The kids are props. That tracks,” one more person added.

Paris Responds To Criticism

However, Hilton later addressed the criticism in the comments section of a video about the costumes on Instagram on Wednesday, October 28, explaining that the family’s character choices were inspired by her children’s own preferences.

“Beauty and the Beast is one of their favorite movies, and London said she wanted to dress up as Chip. She said it was her favorite character in the movie,” Hilton wrote.

Her response offered a different perspective on the family’s Halloween outfits, suggesting that the costumes were chosen with her children’s interests in mind, despite the backlash over the photos.
