Selena Gomez stepped out for her Rare Beauty True to Myself foundation launch in Los Angeles on Friday, but her outfit left fashion fans divided.
The singer wore a soft pink satin mini dress fresh off Prada’s Spring 2026 runway. The design featured a boxy silhouette with flap pockets, exposed seaming, and a layered hem with white scrunched fabric peeking out. It also included built-in jewelry with pearl detailing along the neckline. She paired the look with silver hoop earrings and white slingback heels that complemented the pastel tones.
The 33-year-old completed the look with a sleek bun and two face-framing strands, along with a glossy pink lip, coral eyeshadow, and blush.

Selena Gomez Rocks A Pink Mini Dress At Rare Beauty Event
While the color palette and glam were widely praised, Reddit users had mixed reactions to the dress itself.
“Nice colour, but ugly ugly dress. Wouldn't look good on anyone imo,” one user commented. Another joked, “Looks like she’s smuggling the plastic bags from the kitchen under her skirt. Who approved that??” A third added, “It looks like she's got a full diaper.”
Others focused on the unusual hemline, with one writing, “The color is pretty on her. I think the bottom looks like a gift bag with tissue paper sneaking out of it. The shoes are cute in a very late 80s kind of way,” while another chimed in, “My first thought was tissue paper.”
Some critiques were even harsher. “Kinda looks like she’s got trash bags shoved up underneath the dress. Neck line is giving RBG vibes in a bag way. That pink is a pretty color on her though,” one person noted. Meanwhile, another added, “It’s giving grandma rolled up tissues in pockets.”

Social Media Reacts
A different commenter summed it up bluntly: “But seriously, this is absurd. It’s both exaggerated too much and not enough, so it just looks wrong.”
Still, not all feedback was entirely negative. “She looks good in that color and I like the shoes but boy does this look like homemade doll clothes. Wrong proportion, not sitting right, and the layering just looks like bad lining imo. Love the hair and make up though!” one user shared.
Another concluded, “She is beautiful. Hair, makeup, shoes, all on point. That shift dress needs to be shifted into the trash where it belongs,” while someone else wrote, “Immediately, no. The toilet paper-looking situation ruins it. The pink is cute.”
“It reminds me of those lead aprons they used to make you wear when you get x-rays at the dentist,” one final commenter added.
Beyond the fashion chatter, Selena also shared a behind-the-scenes beauty secret—she’s been wearing her brand’s True To Myself Natural Matte Longwear Foundation for the past year.
The product has quietly been part of some of her biggest moments, including red carpets. The long-wear formula was also her go-to on one of the most important days of her life—her wedding to husband Benny Blanco.
“On my wedding day, I was sweating. I was so excited, so nervous,” she explained. “I’m telling you, my hair was having little curls come out from my sweat, but my makeup was fine!” she told PEOPLE at the Rare Beauty offices on Tuesday, March 17.
