Queen Camilla and Kate Middleton‘s relationship has always been a bit of a mystery. Some insiders say the two women get along famously behind palace doors, while others insist things are a little frostier than they appear in public.
But if we are to believe recent reports, their relationship is on the colder side, as a royal insider has claimed that Queen Camilla made some very catty comments about her stepdaughter-in-law’s cancer journey. Keep reading for more info…
Queen Camilla’s Alleged Remark About Kate Middleton’s Cancer Remission Video
When the Princess of Wales, 43, revealed that she had completed her chemotherapy and was in remission from cancer by sharing an emotional video with the world in September 2024, Queen Camilla was said to be “deeply relieved” by the positive news. But she also couldn’t resist making another cheeky and controversial comment.
According to royal author Robert Jobson’s new book, The Windsor Legacy: A Royal Dynasty of Secrets, Scandal, and Survival, a “senior Household source” said that Queen Camilla joked with friends that the Princess of Wales’ video was “like a shampoo commercial.”
Was that meant as a light-hearted nod to Kate’s famously glossy hair? Or was there something a little sharper behind the alleged quip?

Did Queen Camilla Cross The Line Or Was It An Innocent and 'Playful' Comment?
According to Jobson, we shouldn't read too much into it. Camilla's "humorous approach to life has undoubtedly been a boon for the ailing king," the royal author noted, adding: "Occasionally, however, her sense of humor strays into slightly questionable territory."
Jobson went on to write that Camilla's alleged comment wasn't intended to be vindictive, but she was simply "referring playfully only to the slick production value." He reiterated that the Queen Consort was "of course, deeply relieved at Catherine's recovery."

The Internet Is Divided
The internet was divided upon hearing about Queen Camilla's alleged remark. "Not my queen," slammed one Daily Mail reader. "A real queen (Queen Elizabeth) would know not to make, or think, such a comment," echoed a second.
"If Camilla said this it is beyond disgusting. How dare she!" criticized a third, as a fourth exclaimed: "Camilla is in no position to judge anyone else!" A fifth called it a "questionable joke," while a sixth said: "Camilla has an unpleasant side to her where other women are concerned."

Then of course were the people who defended her, and didn't think there was anything malicious behind the alleged comment. "Perish the thought it might have been a harmless joke. Nothing wrong with a light-hearted comment!" exclaimed a seventh, as an eighth added: "Well she was right! Made me chuckle."
"Nothing wrong with a little humor and on this occasion, she isn't wrong," noted a ninth, as a tenth added: "Camilla was right about Kate's hair. It's beautiful hair that's worthy of being in an advert. There is no suggestion that Camilla and Kate have anything other than a good relationship with one another and no reason to think there was anything malicious behind it."
