Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were among the guests at Kris Jenner’s star-studded James-Bond-themed 70th birthday bash held at Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez Bezos‘ Beverly Hills mansion on Saturday, November 8th, alongside huge A-listers such as Madonna and Beyoncé.

But the couple have faced a wave of criticism for their attendance, with just one of the things people took issue with being that Meghan didn’t wear a poppy, as the event just so happened to take place on the eve of Remembrance Sunday. While Harry did wear his poppy, critics still argued that their presence at the lavish Hollywood party was inappropriate.

This backlash was heightened by the fact that just two days earlier, Prince Harry attended a veterans’ event in Canada, highlighting his ongoing ties to the military and war veterans. That contrast made his attendance at the glitzy Hollywood party feel even more jarring to royal observers and social media users alike!

Meghan Markle And Prince Harry Slammed For Attending Kris Jenner's Birthday Party

While the Sussexes were partying with the Kardashians and rubbing shoulders with Hollywood royalty, the British royal family were preparing for a solemn Remembrance Sunday event to honor members of the military from Britain and the Commonwealth who died in combat.

King Charles, Queen Camilla, Kate Middleton, Prince William and more marked the somber occasion on Sunday, November 9th. And given Prince Harry's military background and his public work with veterans, his attendance at Jenner's party sparked plenty of backlash...

"It's the most tragic display from these two that we've seen for a very long time, if not ever," royal expert Charlotte Griffiths told GB News. "It couldn't be less appropriate to go to a Kardashian showbiz, star-studded party where these aren't their close circle of friends, these aren't their best friends," she continued, adding: "This isn't Harry's best mate's 40th. It's unforgivable."

"It's unconscionable," another insider said, according to NewsNation. They added: "The day we remember our war heroes, our veterans – of which Harry is one! – and he goes off to a ball! It's galling – they should never come back to England."

Social Media Reactions

X users were also quick to slam the Sussexes, criticizing everything from Meghan not wearing a poppy, to the couple's apparent disregard for the solemnity of Remembrance Day weekend, to the Invictus Games founder's choice to attend a lavish Hollywood party just two days after a veterans' event.

"I despise Harry, but the Gold-Digger made him go to that party. She was hoping to meet a big Hollywood producer that would make her a star," thought one X user. "They represent no one but themselves. He's a treacherous weasel," slammed a second.

"What do you expect, those traitors are completely devoid of any morals and conscience," commented a third, adding: "They're zelebs now you know… always been the dream of shameless Markle lol!"

"It's on brand for the Faux Royals of Montecito," declared a fourth, as a fifth said: "Would you expect any different? They're pigs." "He isn't royal though and he doesn't care about vets," thought a sixth.

"Of course Harry's wife isn't going to wear a poppy! What an absurd expectation!" exclaimed a seventh, as an eighth echoed: "No. Him wearing a poppy at that trashy celebrity party was an insult. Cosplayed royalty in Canada for PR, then wore a poppy to a Bond themed costume American celebrity party."

"Just when you think it can't get any lower, they find a way to prove you wrong," said a ninth, as a tenth declared: "They are no longer royals. They are now celebrities cosying up to other celebrities. It's time for @RoyalFamily to remove their titles and cut them adrift from the monarchy once and for all. ENOUGH!" "These people are sick," concurred an eleventh.
