Mindy Kaling Shows Off Her Weight Loss In A Figure-Hugging Yellow Dress

There are a lot of celebrities who have undergone some kind of health or body transformation over the years, from Oprah Winfrey to Jelly Roll. Many have taken advantage of the rise in GLP-1 medications, while others have relied on healthier lifestyle changes to help shed extra pounds.

One of those stars who has gone the natural route is Mindy Kaling, the famous writer, producer, and actress, who stole people's hearts and made audiences laugh with her breakthrough role in The Office. Over the last handful of years, she's taken on various projects and become a mother to three kids, as well as losing a reported 40 pounds.

Earlier this week, the Mindy Project creator stepped out in New York City for daytime talk show interviews to promote her new Hulu series, Not Suitable for Work, while wearing super chic outfits. On May 27th, she appeared on Good Morning America and was seen wearing a figure-hugging, butter yellow dress with feathers and floral cutouts at the bottom, a perfect late spring look.

Mindy Opens Up About What Inspired Her Weight Loss

The same week she appeared on GMA, the 46-year-old also sat down with the ladies on The View. Though she's stayed fairly modest about her weight loss, not getting into too much detail except for the healthier habits she's picked up, like walking and dropping restrictive diets.

However, on the talk show, she began getting more vulnerable by sharing how she feels about the public's reaction to her slimming down, and clearing up any misconceptions that people might have about why she did it.

"I think we all think it's weird when public figures lose weight because we want this perfectly consistent narrative of their lives," the actress admitted. "But I have wanted to lose weight since I was 12 years old. I've been writing jokes about diet and body image for 20 years now. So when people are surprised or shocked that I wanted to lose weight, I'm like, 'Wait, how is this new? This has been part of my personality since the Clinton administration!'"

Additionally, she brought up how, other than healing her issues with body image, Mindy went on a mission to improve her health because of her family's health history, including her late mother's history with cancer and her dad's diabetes diagnosis.

"I'm 46," she said. "I'm a single mom of three kids. My mom died young of cancer, and both my parents had diabetes…I need to live. I need to live, and my kids need me. I saw something recently, that people were like, 'I wish Mindy would stop saying she's doing it for the health and her kids, she just wants to look hot,' And I'm like, both can be true!"
