Michelle Obama just revealed on an episode of her podcast that she’s “glad” she and former president Barack Obama didn’t have a son, giving the reasoning that “he would’ve been a Barack Obama.” Fans were quick to critique the former first lady for saying such a thing, calling it “diminishing” and “disrespectful.” Keep reading for more information.

Michelle Obama Is 'Glad' She Didn't Have A Son
In the June 18 episode of her podcast, IMO, she invited radio giant Angie Martinez on as her guest, and their conversation took a turn to talking about the challenges that come with raising young men. Martinez told Obama that she "should've [thrown] a boy into the mix," referencing the two female Obama children, Malia, 26, and Sasha, 24.
But Michelle turned her down, replying, "I'm so glad I didn't have a boy. Because he would've been a Barack Obama," to which Angie replied, "Baby Barack, it would've been amazing!"
Yet again, Michelle was quick to disagree: "No, I would've felt for him."

Social Media Reactions
Michelle Obama's thoughts on having a baby boy quickly circulated through social media platforms, and many individuals thought Michelle's opinion was a subtle jab at her husband, amidst rumors that their relationship is on the rocks. "How can a wife say this about a husband?" one person asked in the comment section of a YouTube video about the conversation. "So disrespectful."
"Wonder what the girls think of their mother belittling their father in public of all places... nationally," another person wrote.
"She should be more cognizant of what she says on her podcast," another user pointed out. "I don't think this will be received well, by the public or by Barack himself."
"She's constantly diminishing him!" a final user wrote. "Always airing out the inner workings of their relationship and not showing up to events with him."
