Prince Harry Reportedly Wants King Charles To 'Support' And Attend The 2027 Invictus Games

When the Spare author was still a working member of the royal family, in 2014, he founded and kicked off the Invictus Games, an international multi-sport event where wounded, injured, and sick military personnel compete in an exciting series of games. Prince Harry helped create the games in the UK after being inspired by the Warrior Games in America.

The games consist of military personnel, that's a mix of retired and actively serving members, and while they've been carried out in different countries since Harry stepped down from his duties and moved to California, for the first time since 2014, they're returning to England and being played in Birmingham next year.

Now that the prince is allegedly beginning to slowly repair his relationship with his father after years of tension and estrangement, insiders have claimed he would "desperately" like for his father to attend the games by his side next year.

"Invictus has become pivotal," former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond told The Mirror. "It is Harry's great cause and his greatest achievement, and any father would want to support his son as the Games come to the United Kingdom. But it's not straightforward for the King. Sadly for him, his family matters never are."

King Charles Is Facing A 'Dilemma' As His Sons Are Still 'Warring'

According to royal insiders and correspondents, King Charles has not been able to agree to the next Invictus Games yet, as he's facing quite the "dilemma" for numerous reasons.

On one hand, his wife, Queen Camilla's 80th birthday, will fall during the games, and even if they are in Birmingham, her celebration might get in the way of his attendance. Then, there's the matter of the ongoing sibling battle between His eldest and youngest sons.

"It could become a classic case of a father having to choose between his warring sons," Bond explained. "We can only imagine how William might feel if Charles publicly threw his support behind the [Invictus Games] and Harry."

Although the King showing support for Harry at the games would reportedly be "tough" for Prince William, Bond adds, "that's the dilemma the King might face."
