A resurfaced clip of Katy Perry during her time as a judge on American Idol is going viral – and let’s just say the 41-year-old “Roar” singer isn’t coming across particularly well in it!
The timing of the clip is no coincidence, as it comes shortly after 28-year-old Australian model and actor Ruby Rose accused the singer of sexually assaulting her in Melbourne over a decade ago. Keep reading for more details…
Resurfaced Clip Of Katy Perry Kissing An ‘American Idol’ Contestant Goes Viral
The resurfaced moment dates back to 2018 and features former American Idol contestant Benjamin Glaze, who was 19 at the time. During his audition, fellow judge Luke Bryan asked him, “Have you kissed a girl and liked it?,” referencing Perry’s 2008 hit, “I Kissed a Girl.”
Glaze replied that he had never actually kissed anyone before, saying: “No, I’ve never been in a relationship. I can’t kiss the girl without being in a relationship.” He then asked Perry if she wanted a kiss on the cheek, which she accepted.
After he gave her a peck on the cheek, she joked that it “didn’t even make the smush sound,” prompting him to go in for a second cheek kiss. However, as he leaned in again, Perry turned her head and kissed him on the lips, which appeared to catch him off guard.
He later told the New York Times that the incident made him “a tad bit uncomfortable,” adding that he had hoped his first kiss would be “special.”

What Were The Ruby Rose Allegations Against Katy Perry?
The American Idol clip has resurfaced amid recent allegations made by the Orange Is the New Black actress, who claims the "Harleys in Hawaii" singer assaulted her at a Melbourne nightclub in 2010. Perry's reps have strongly denied the accusations, calling them "dangerous, reckless lies."
So how did the allegations come about? Following comments Perry made about Justin Bieber's Coachella set earlier this month, Rose wrote on social media: "Katy Perry sexual assaulted me at spice market nightclub in Melbourne. Who gives a [expletive] what she thinks?"
She added more comments, and finished off by saying: "Last update on this: As of this afternoon, I have finalized all of my reports. This means I am no longer able to comment, repost, or talk publicly about any of those cases, or the individuals involved. This is a standard request from the police and in many ways, quite the relief. I can start the healing process now. And temporary [sic] move forward."
Victoria Police reportedly said in a statement last week: "Melbourne sexual offences and child abuse investigation team (SOCIT) detectives are investigating [an alleged] historical sexual assault that occurred in Melbourne in 2010. Police have been told the incident occurred at a licensed premises in Melbourne's CBD. As the investigation remains ongoing, it would be inappropriate to comment further at this stage."
The "Woman's World" singer's rep denied the claims, and said: "The allegations being circulated on social media by Ruby Rose about Katy Perry are not only categorically false, they are dangerous reckless lies. Ms Rose has a well-documented history of making serious public allegations on social media against various individuals, claims that have repeatedly been denied by those named."

Reddit Comments
Reddit users weighed in on Rose's allegations, and also referenced the American Idol clip and other similar allegations against the "Dark Horse" singer. "I remember the 18-year-old or whatever on American Idol where she got him to kiss her on the cheek but she turned last second to get him on the lip," recalled one user.
"The woman who forcefully stole that contestant's first kiss after he told her he was specifically saving it for someone special? She's a horrible person," commented a second, as a third added: "Katy also tricked a young boy into kissing her, after he said he was waiting for a special moment for his first kiss."
A fourth user wrote: "Ruby Rose, Anna Kendrick, Josh Kloss, Tina Kandelaki, and that American Idol contestant. Oh, and sticking with Dr. Luke. Looks like a pattern..."
A fifth referenced a separate allegation, adding: "I just know about the guy who starred in her "Teenage Dream" music video... I think he said she undressed him in front of her friends. If all of this is true then there's certainly a pattern... and might shed some new light on the Kesha–Dr. Luke–Katy Perry drama."
"It sounds exactly like something Katy Perry would do and find acceptable, I'm not surprised in the slightest," said a sixth. "'I kissed a girl, and I liked it.' I guess we never asked if the other girl liked it too," quipped a seventh.

Others, however, pushed back, with one writing: "Idk Ruby Rose has a history of lying. Super disgusting though if it's true." "Just doesn't sound true to me," added a second, while a third commented: "Sorry but that didn't happen."
"It's an interesting thing – Rose has a history of lying about sexual abuse and also has been increasingly trying to remain relevant. Perry has a history of unwanted sexual advances," wrote a fourth.
A fifth chimed in: "Ruby Rose is sketchy but did Katy Perry kiss an AI contestant on the lips without consent? They're both problematic."
