Kate Hudson channeled full-on Greek goddess energy with her latest red carpet appearance.

The actress stepped out at the 2026 Actor Awards (formerly SAG Awards) on March 1 in a dreamy beige Valentino gown that instantly commanded attention. The ethereal design featured intricate pleating along the bodice, a subtle midsection cutout, and a flowing skirt that cascaded to the floor. Dramatic cape sleeves draped from each arm, adding to the regal, goddess-inspired silhouette.

Kate Hudson Channels Greek Goddess Vibes In A Cape Dress

Hudson elevated the look even further with 80 carats of bespoke diamonds by jewelry designer Emily P. Wheeler, bringing major sparkle to the soft, romantic ensemble.

She attended the ceremony as a nominee for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role for her role in Song Sung Blue. In addition to celebrating her nomination, Hudson also took part in the show’s opening “I Am An Actor” monologue segment, marking a memorable night both on and off the stage.

During her “I Am an Actor” monologue, Kate poked fun at her younger self with a dose of self-aware humor. She joked that as a child she was often “accused of being disruptive, dramatic. I was sent home from school for inappropriate dress. My makeup choices were too distracting.”

Using her fingers to make air quotes, she continued, “I was boy-crazy and too loud when I walk into a room. Too opinionated in my ideas…”

She wrapped up the speech with a punchline that earned laughs from the crowd: “Well, to my great relief, it turns out they are very marketable skills. My name is Kate Hudson, and I am an actor.”

Kate Hudson Slammed For 'Out Of Touch' Comments About Not Being Rich

However, before she had audiences laughing, she sparked backlash with a comment some viewers found tone-deaf during her red carpet interview. While speaking on Netflix’s live stream, the daughter of Goldie Hawn and Bill Hudson was asked about the dazzling jewelry she was wearing.

Hudson joked that she’d have to return the pieces after the event, adding, “We’re not that rich!” The remark quickly drew criticism on X (formerly Twitter).

One user wrote, “Kate Hudson of all people talking about how she's not that rich.”

Another added, “Kate Hudson is so out of touch. She made a quip talking about not being able to keep the jewels, ‘We’re not that rich!’ Gross!”

A third chimed in, “Complaining about the unpredictability of a job she was basically given by being a nepo baby.”

Hudson is often labeled a “nepo baby” as the daughter of Academy Award-winning actress Goldie Hawn and musician/actor Bill Hudson. She was also raised by her mother’s longtime partner, Kurt Russell.

Over the years, Hudson has acknowledged growing up in a famous and privileged family but has maintained that her parents were “adamant” that she and her siblings not rely solely on their family name.

Addressing the broader nepotism debate, she previously told The Independent that she isn’t bothered by the label, noting that talent runs in her family and that nepotism exists across many industries. “If you work hard and you kill it, it doesn't matter,” she said.

She has also pointed out that while family connections might help someone get a “foot in the door,” they don’t guarantee longevity or success, telling Variety that she felt pressure to be especially prepared in order to prove herself.
