Joe Biden was invited to speak at Syracuse University earlier this month, for an unveiling of his portrait at the law school, where he earned his law degree from back in 1968. The 83-year-old may be slowing down, but he hasn’t lost his sense of humor, attempting to make a few jokes during his speech. One of them, a slightly awkward joke comparing one of the board members to Barack Obama, didn’t exactly land with many, especially his Republican critics on social media. Joe Biden Compares Board Member To Obama
In a celebration of Joe Biden’s influence, Syracuse University Law School is honoring the former president with a portrait to be displayed on campus. Biden, 83, attended the event, even taking the stage to deliver a speech. During the speech, he attempted to make a joke comparing Board of Trustees Chairman Jeffrey Scruggs to Barack Obama, implying the two share a likeness.
“And by the way, I always want to turn around to one guy and say, Barack what are you doing?” Joe joked. He then invited Scruggs to stand at the podium with him. “I feel like he should be standing on the right and I should be standing on the left! Doesn’t he look like Barack?” he asked the crowd.

Social Media Reactions
Across social media platforms, namely Instagram, many users are criticizing Joe Biden for his slightly awkward attempt at a joke. "OMG, I tried so hard to give this man the respect of a former president and watch when he appears," one person commented. "Every time, and I mean, literally every time my brain bleeds, and it hurts to comprehend what is being said, and then my jaw drops and I am shocked at what is uttered.."
"Why is allowed to make public speeches?" another critic asked.
"Good ole Sleepy Joe," another person said. "Some things never change!"
"His mind is mush!" a fourth person said, and the next agreed, writing sarcastically, "Sharp as a tack!"
"Democrats thought he could be president again," a final user wrote.
