Gwyneth Paltrow Recommends Arugula As Dairy Substitute
Paltrow appeared on the Wednesday episode of the Today show to promote her Goop Kitchen, which she’s considering bringing to New York after successfully opening 14 locations in California. During a cooking segment, she showed her hosts how to make one of her favorite recipes, turkey meatballs, but one substitution suggestion gave many viewers pause.
“If you want to avoid dairy, one trick that I do is I dice up arugula and I put it in,” Paltrow suggested. “It sounds weird, but it kind of adds, like, a nice texture to it. And it’s delicious.”
This isn’t the first unusual food habit she’s shared—back in 2023 she appeared on the podcast The Art of Being Well With Dr. Cole and shared that she likes to intermittent fast, meaning she has a cup of black coffee for breakfast, a cup of bone broth for lunch, and a vegetable-filled dinner. She received a lot of backlash for this one too—with many users claiming she’s pushing a diet that’s unsustainable.

Social Media Reactions
Across social media platforms, users didn't exactly react positively to the actress's suggestion. "I didn't know Gwyneth Paltrow substituting arugula for milk would be my breaking point, but here were are," one person wrote in a comment on Today's TikTok of the clip. "I'm done."
"Is it possible she doesn't know what arugula is?" the next person asked.
"I typically get the brown sugar shaken espresso with arugula," joked another user.
"Gwen, please," wrote the next. "The world is ending and you're telling me to put arugula instead of dairy?"
"What do I do if I want to avoid Gwyneth Paltrow?" asked another.
"Nothing says a cold glass of milk like peppery arugula," a final user wrote.
