Barack Obama and Zohran Mamdani recently made fans gush around the country with one of their recent NYC outings, and it also stirred up some strong feelings about the current administration.
The two politicians spent some time in New York City together last week, and over the weekend, they stopped by a childcare center in the Bronx to sing and play with some preschoolers. On social media, fans watched as the two men sat on the classroom rug with the kids, talking to them and even singing a round of “Wheels On The Bus.” After videos and photos of their time with the kids were posted, internet users commented not only on how wholesome they thought it was, but also on how they can’t imagine the current president doing something like that. Barack Obama & Zohran Mamdani Visit NYC Preschoolers
Last week, two of the biggest names in politics right now met up in person for the first time. The former president and new mayor spent last Saturday afternoon in the Big Apple together. Though they've shown support for each other via social media and behind the scenes, in honor of their first official NYC meeting, they decided to do something related to the mayor's first actions.
Months after the young mayoral elect started working on universal, free child care for NYC parents, he and the 64-year-old politician decided to stop by a childcare center in the Bronx. Some reporters were let into the classroom as the pair of men talked about the importance of accessible childcare and education, with Obama saying, "This is what we need, making an investment in these amazing kids," as reported by Politico.
While sitting with the children on their classroom rug, the two politicians had casual conversations with them, read books, sang "Wheels On The Bus," and even let them roughhouse and goof off with them for a little bit towards the end of their visit. You can see footage of them with the kids here!

Fans React To Barack & Zohran's Visit With The Kids On Social Media
After photos and videos of their time with the little kids were shared on social media, numerous supporters and other internet users began to gush in the comments section. Not only did some cheer on the free childcare cause, but others appreciated the time and energy spent with the kids in person, something many wrote they couldn't see happening with President Donald Trump.
"Two politicians I feel safe leaving my kids with," commented a fan on Instagram.
"Trump would never be allowed near children," added another.
One user called the pair's interaction with the kids "what decency looks like," as another wrote, "We need this kind of decency back in the White House."
"The palette cleanser we all needed!" added a fan, with one calling the visit "iconic."
Once the visit was over, a spokesperson for the 34-year-old mayor, Joe Calvello, released a statement, writing, "In between singing 'Wheels on the Bus,' the two leaders discussed the mayor's vision for the city and the importance of giving New York's Cutest the strongest start possible." We'll be curious to see if the two men meet up again at some point later this year, but as of right now, fans can't get over seeing them work together.
