Anne Hathaway Shares Her Definition Of Beauty & Shares A Go-To Beauty Secret
The Princess Diaries star has long been ultra-famous, but right now, she's in the headlines a whole lot as she promotes the upcoming release of The Devil Wears Prada 2, an exciting sequel to arguably one of her most famous films. She filmed the first movie in her early 20s, and now, at 43, she's returning to the storyline and her character.
Therefore, there's been a lot of conversation surrounding the cast's transformations and aging process, which is timely, as people have been chatting a lot about how gracefully Anne has been aging over the last few years. Now, she's been named one of People Magazine's "World's Most Beautiful Women," where she posed for a cover shoot and sat down to talk about her journey.
When asked to share her personal definition of beauty, she responded,
"A filmmaker once told me this: Beauty can contain within it ugliness as long as it contains truth. So for me, beauty always falls along those lines." Later in the interview, she shared her one beauty secret and tip for always looking good: quality lighting.
"And just understand your lighting, like that’s the No. 1 thing because all of those things will not make a difference if you do not know how to find your light," she added. "Bad lighting is so mean and cruel, and as you age, you need lighting that’s a little bit more intelligent. So be aware of lighting."

Anne Reveals Her Favorite Beauty Must-Haves, Workout, And What She Thinks About Turning 40
For months, people have been wondering what exactly it is that the Oscar-winner has been doing to look so good after more than 20 years in the spotlight. Though there's been some speculation that she's gotten plastic surgery or cosmetic treatments, there are many who will agree that she's aging gracefully while looking like herself. During her interview, she opened up about lifestyle habits and beauty routine steps, including her favorite beauty products and workouts.
"Shiseido’s Vital Perfection really is a brilliant skin cream," she told People, promoting the brand she's a spokesperson for. "I do genuinely recommend it. I think a red-light mask is a game-changer. I love C & The Moon body scrub. And I’m a big fan of Baume De Rose By Terry."
"I love working out with [personal trainer] Monique Eastwood," she continued. "She’s a genius. She’s a former ballerina, so she’s put together ballet, HIIT, Pilates, and yoga. And I’m really lucky I get to have private sessions with her. We’ve been working together for over four years, and she’s just kind of changed everything and made it better."
To wrap things up, the mom-of-two shared her thoughts on turning 40, and how reaching this chapter of life inspired her to change her perspective on beauty standards and getting older. She believes you need to lock in on taking better care of yourself and letting go of the small stuff.
"One of the things that I love about being in my 40s is I don’t get so swept up in things anymore," she admitted. "I used to really not understand that phrase, 'Take it with a grain of salt.' There’s no salt. Every high was so high, every low was so low. And now I really value the chill. It’s hard won, and I really value it. I’ve never been this age. So let’s just like, you know, figure it out. You still never know what’s coming around the corner."
