The Kardashian-Jenner family has a history of turning fame into business opportunities, and it appears the next generation could be following in their footsteps. Kylie Jenner is the latest family member to make moves involving her child’s potential future career.

The beauty mogul recently filed to trademark the name of her 8-year-old daughter, Stormi Webster, with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, according to the U.S. Sun.

On August 24, the mom of two reportedly submitted a filing indicating that she intended to use Stormi’s name for a range of goods and services, including skin care preparations, lotions, cleansers, body oils, shower gels, cosmetics, fragrances, hair care products and nail polish.

Kylie Jenner Files Trademark For Daughter Stormi

However, a trademark application does not necessarily mean a product line is in development or that a business is about to launch. Such filings can also serve as a way to protect intellectual property and secure rights to a name. Kylie has not publicly announced any official plans to launch a beauty brand for her daughter.

The application has not yet been approved and is currently listed as pending.

Kylie is not the only celebrity parent to take steps toward building a business around a child’s name. Victoria Beckham, for example, has helped her 15-year-old daughter, Harper Beckham, pursue plans for a beauty brand.

Still, the possibility of Stormi having a beauty business at just 8 years old did not sit well with some social media users.

“So now the daughter at just 8 yrs old is going to launch a skin care line ?? I hope this is a joke,” one person commented.

“So all 8-year-olds can have younger looking skin?” another asked.

“When is enough enough?” a third person wrote, while someone else pleaded, “Make it stop. Please.”

“Enough of this madness,” another added.

One critic took a different angle, writing, “Some kids inherit a business, Stormi gets trademarked before she can run one.”

Kylie’s Beauty Empire

Kylie was 18 when she launched her own cosmetics company Kylie Cosmetics, originally known as Kylie Lip Kits, on November 30, 2015. She reportedly used approximately $250K in personal savings from her time on Keeping Up with the Kardashians to fund the initial production, which was said to total between 5,000 and 15,000 units.

Stormi is not the only child in the Kardashian-Jenner family to attract attention for early entertainment and fashion ventures. Kim Kardashian and Kanye West‘s daughter, North West, has also been active in the spotlight through her fashion choices and creative projects.

For now, however, Kylie’s trademark filing remains pending, and there is no confirmation that a Stormi-branded beauty line is in the works.
