Kai Trump is facing backlash after revealing that she spent more than $500 on makeup and skincare products for her freshman year of college. The 19-year-old, who attends the University of Miami, documented a Sephora shopping trip in her latest YouTube vlog, sparking criticism from viewers who argued that her expensive beauty haul was out of reach for most college students.

In the video, Donald Trump‘s granddaughter spent $531.79 on 16 beauty and skincare products, including items from high-end brands such as Dior, YSL Beauty, Hourglass, Rare Beauty, Rhode, and Summer Fridays.

The shopping trip was intended to help her put together a simple, five-minute makeup routine that could withstand Miami’s heat and humidity while she attended classes, went to golf practices, and attended football games.

Kai Trump Gets Beauty Advice From Her Makeup Artist

Before heading to Sephora, the daughter of Don Jr. and Vanessa Trump consulted her makeup artist, Brianna Michele, over a video call to discuss the products she should purchase for her everyday college routine.

“I love doing my own makeup sometimes, but I also like when you do my makeup, and when you do it, it always looks sometimes better,” Kai told Michele. “So, if you could help me out and let me know what products you think I should get and how to do it.”

Michele suggested keeping the routine simple, explaining that a quick, natural-looking makeup look was popular. Michele also revealed that she had prepared a shopping list for Kai, complete with recommended products and shades to make the Sephora trip easier.

With the list in hand, Kai headed to Sephora and picked up a variety of products from luxury and popular beauty brands.

After completing her shopping trip, Kai showed viewers her lengthy receipt and explained that she used her Krak card, which she described as a money app she uses for everyday spending.

Social Media Slams Kai Trump's Makeup Haul

“I can get up to 2% cash back on my purchases with no hidden fees,” she said while discussing the payment method.

However, the total quickly became a talking point among viewers, with some criticizing the amount she spent on beauty products while many college students face tight budgets for everyday necessities.

“She spent $500 on makeup; that’s what I spend on groceries for the month,” one person commented.

Another viewer acknowledged the appeal of the video but suggested a more budget-friendly approach, writing, “This is great, but most college kids can’t afford this high-end makeup. You should do a video highlighting the dupes for all of this makeup.”

A third commenter questioned whether Kai needed so many products, writing, “Kai, you do not need all that makeup. I wonder how many college students see this and wish they had that kind of money, even to buy their lunches... Wake up and see how the rest of the world lives.”

While some viewers may have appreciated the product recommendations, others felt the expensive haul highlighted the financial differences between Kai’s college experience and that of many other students.

The Sephora shopping trip is not the first time Kai’s college lifestyle has drawn attention online. The freshman previously faced criticism after showing off her luxurious two-bedroom off-campus apartment at the University of Miami, where she lives on her own rather than sharing a traditional dorm room with roommates.

Her living arrangements and latest beauty haul have prompted further discussion about the contrast between her college experience and the financial realities many students face.
