New York Fashion Week is in full swing, with the industry’s biggest names hitting the runway — but even supermodels aren’t immune to criticism. Gigi Hadid found herself at the center of online debate after opening Tommy Hilfiger’s latest show.
The top model kicked off the star-studded Tommy Hilfiger Spring 2027 show at the Plaza Hotel in Midtown Manhattan on Thursday afternoon. She confidently walked down the expansive runway wearing an oversized tailored blazer with bright red baggy trousers, a white shirt and a coordinating bucket hat.
The preppy ensemble was part of the designer’s Spring 2027 collection, but while the mom of one appeared confident as she walked in front of celebrities and photographers, some viewers online focused less on her outfit and more on her runway walk.

Gigi Hadid’s Catwalk Criticized After Tommy Hilfiger Show
TikTok users quickly shared their opinions, with some questioning whether Hadid’s walk lived up to her supermodel status.
“That walk GIGI?” one person asked.
“She walking like she don’t [care],” another wrote.
“She’s never had a good walk,” a third commenter claimed.
“Today I found out I walk better than a supermodel,” someone else joked.
“She’s just walking around in a mall or something,” another person said.
“How is this not a thrift shop look?” one critic questioned.
Another commenter compared Hadid’s runway walk to those of other models, writing, “The only professional model from her set is probably Bella Hadid. Gigi and Kendall have such terrible walks, they should stick to editorial.”
“I think she feels lazy,” another person added.
“Presently, she has the worst walk on the runway,” another critic wrote.
Despite the mixed reaction to her catwalk, the 31-year-old has expressed excitement about returning to the Tommy Hilfiger runway, describing the experience as particularly meaningful now that she is a mother.

Gigi Talks About Her Daughter's Catwalk Practices
Hadid, who shares 5-year-old daughter Khai with singer and ex-partner Zayn Malik, revealed that her Fashion Week routine looks different these days.
“I dropped my daughter off at her second day of school this morning and came straight here,” Hadid said on Live From E! Stream: Tommy Hilfiger Spring 2027 Runway Show. “So it’s definitely a new version of Fashion Week for me.”
“But to come back to do the Tommy show,” she added, “is so nostalgic and means a lot.”
The Guest In Residence founder also opened up about Khai’s growing understanding of her mother’s career and revealed that the young girl has already started creating her own runway moments at home.
“She definitely understands the job now,” Hadid said. “She loves a Tommy show, something that’s uplifting and fun, and she’s very creative. So anything with not just fashion, but drawing, color, fabric, and performance, she loves that.”
And it seems Khai may already be following in her mother’s footsteps.
“She gets into her own little catwalks,” Hadid revealed. “But then she’ll be like, ‘Mom, you be security.’ So then sometimes I pretend to be the security at the top of the runway.”
