Donald Trump is addressing a long-running rumor about his hair, joking that a particularly windy campaign rally proved he does not wear a wig.
During a Rose Garden dinner at the White House on Wednesday, September 2, Trump recalled a 2024 campaign event in Ohio for then-Senate candidate Bernie Moreno. The outdoor rally was held at an airfield in Vandalia, where strong winds reportedly caused teleprompters to blow off the stage. The day was described by the Associated Press as a “wind-whipped airfield.”
Reflecting on the weather, the 80-year-old recalled how difficult it was to stand at the podium as the wind picked up.

Donald Trump Says He Had To 'Suffer' Over Wig Rumors
“I went up to the speaker, and it was blowing so hard,” he said. “You know, for years, I had to suffer with people saying, ‘He wears a wig.’”
The father of five then used the experience to push back against the longstanding speculation about his hair.
“I don’t wear a wig. But that night, they found out I did not wear a wig because if you did, it was not going to be on your head very long,” he continued.
Questions about Trump’s distinctive hairstyle have followed him for years, with speculation frequently focusing on its shape, color (he recently debuted a darker hair color) and volume. Trump has repeatedly denied wearing a hairpiece and has previously insisted that his hair is real.
In 2015, the politician was asked by a fan during an interview whether he would ever consider changing his signature hairstyle. He explained that he was hesitant to do so because of the attention surrounding his appearance.

Donald Addresses His Real Hair In 2015 Interview
“The ratings are so good on ‘The Apprentice’ and everything else, I’m afraid to do it,” Trump said at the time. “I don’t think NBC would like it. A lot of people would be unhappy. But it is my hair as you can see.”
The businessman also recalled previous instances in which people had questioned whether the hair was his own.
“Barbara Walters interviewed me two years ago and she said, ‘Is that really your hair?’ And I said, ‘Go ahead, check it out,’” he said. “She did. Joan Rivers checked it out. They all checked it out.”
“It’s my hair, believe me!” Trump added. “I don’t know, it just seems to work.”
