Ivanka Trump shared an Instagram post highlighting her food company Planet Harvest’s work with Style Saves to help thousands of Miami families prepare for the new school year with backpacks, uniforms, school supplies and nutritious food – but not everyone was impressed by the charitable gesture.
While the post received plenty of glowing comments from her (and her father, President Donald Trump‘s) fans, some critics accused the 44-year-old of “hypocrisy,” questioning the impact of a one-off back-to-school initiative while migrant children continue to be held in federal custody under her father’s administration.

Ivanka Trump’s Planet Harvest Partners With Style Saves For Back-To-School Event
“Planet Harvest was thrilled to collaborate with Style Saves in support of more than 25,000 Miami families as they prepare for the new school year,” the mom-of-three’s post began.
“Thanks to our incredible partners, students are heading back equipped with backpacks, uniforms, and nutritious food to nourish their bodies as they learn and grow,” she added, followed by red apple and books emojis.
The event took place at the Miami Beach Convention Center on August 8th and August 9th and was organized by Style Saves, a nonprofit that provides underserved children and their families with essentials including school supplies, uniforms, shoes and meals.
Planet Harvest, which Ivanka co-founded with her friend Melissa Ackerman in 2023, was one of the organizations collaborating with Style Saves for this year’s event.
The “profit-for-purpose” company aims to reduce food waste by connecting surplus produce with consumers and communities in need. Ivanka publicly discussed her role in Planet Harvest for the first time during an interview at the Heartland Summit in 2025, when she spoke about plans to “reimagine the food supply chain through private-sector innovation.”

Critics Accuse Ivanka Trump Of 'Hypocrisy' Amid Treatment Of Migrant Children
However, the timing of Ivanka's post didn't sit well with some social media users, who contrasted the charitable initiative with the Trump administration's treatment of migrant children.
The criticism comes as the Trump administration faces scrutiny over the length of time some unaccompanied migrant children are spending in federal custody. Recent reports have documented children remaining in government shelters for months while waiting to be released to relatives or other sponsors, with some reportedly spending more than a year in federal care.
Some Instagram users therefore criticized the initiative for providing one-off support rather than ongoing assistance, while others directly referenced migrant children being held in federal facilities.

Social Media Slams Ivanka Trump In The Comments
"The cognitive dissonance is wild," slammed one critic in the comments of her post. "For one day only? Hypocrite," wrote a second. "So this is going to be a once-a-month event? Maybe every two weeks? I don't have children and know that this one time event isn't enough. Children have ongoing needs. Like eating is an everyday need," added a third.
"After this admin took away food stamps?" questioned a fourth, in reference to changes to SNAP under Donald Trump's administration. Those changes could also impact free school meals, as SNAP participation can help children automatically qualify for free meals and can help determine whether high-poverty schools can provide free breakfast and lunch to all students.
The issue is especially timely in Miami, where many students will no longer automatically receive free breakfast and lunch after Miami-Dade County Public Schools ended its district-wide universal free meal program for the 2026-27 school year. "Yeah, Republicans won't give kids free lunches at school," wrote a fifth.
"Meanwhile your dad has deported thousands of families in the exact state you're doing this. The hypocrisy is astounding," alleged a sixth. "Now feed our children in the detention centers. They are getting sick every day. They are humans," wrote a seventh, followed by a praying hands emoji.
"Wouldn't it have been wonderful if all those deported Florida kids could have attended this event?" asked an eighth. "Wow too bad the kids in detention centers don't get to enjoy any of these events. Great job Ivanka," wrote a ninth.
"This is nonsense. You are not in touch with reality!" criticized a tenth. "How much tax deduction do you get with this?" questioned an eleventh, adding: "I don't believe you & your family do this for a sake of helping people. What do we have to do for you & your family to leave the world alone!"
