Kylie Jenner attended the star-studded wedding of her longtime friend Jordyn Woods and NBA player Karl-Anthony Towns in Malibu on Aug. 15. Jenner was accompanied by her boyfriend, Timothée Chalamet, but it was her revealing wedding-guest dress that quickly became a topic of conversation online.
For the occasion, the mom of two wore a Roberto Cavalli Spring 2004 ready-to-wear black dress that some social media users felt was too racy for a wedding.
The halter-style gown featured diamond-belt detailing around the waist and hips, along with dramatic side cutouts extending down toward her hips. And the Complete Unknown actor wasn't the only one whose wedding guest attire came under fire, as the internet soon turned its attention to Jenner – just a few days after her older half-sister Kim Kardashian was branded "tacky" for her vacation wardrobe.
"Kylie looks so tacky omg," slammed one user. "I just knew Kylie would show up in the tackiest dress," wrote a second, followed by three crying laughing emojis. "That dress is very very bad given she has access to a gazillion dresses," noted a third.
"That tacky dress probably costs $$$$," wrote a fourth. "Expensive dresses can still be tacky," agreed a fifth. "Exactly! Kylie is the proof that money doesn't equal elegance!" exclaimed a sixth, as a seventh said: "Kylie can't buy class."
"Looks like a discount prom dress from the 90's," joked an eighth, followed by the crying laughing emoji. "That dress looks awful on her! Extremely tacky and not appropriate!" exclaimed a ninth in agreement.

The 29-year-old later addressed the controversy during a 2025 appearance in Vogue’s “Life in Looks” series.
“This was for Hailey and Justin’s wedding and I think people were a little upset that I went all out,” Jenner said.
“But [Justin and Hailey] didn’t care—I don’t think.” She jokingly added, “Hailey, call me if you have an issue.”
Still, Jenner admitted that she might make a different fashion choice if she could do it again.
“I probably wouldn’t wear” the dress again, she said, explaining that she had assumed the guests would be dressing up and “going all out.”
