The former president surprised WNBA All-Stars during a practice at the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago last week, where players became the first professional athletes to use the property’s new basketball court ahead of their annual All-Star Game. After greeting several players, media outlets captured Barack sharing a personal moment with Clark.

“You’re great. You’re fantastic,” he told Caitlin. “Don’t let all this nonsense get you down.”

The 65-year-old explained that he was fortunate to become famous later in life, stating, “One of the things that was luckiest for me was I didn’t get famous until I was like 45. So I was an old…man.”

He later compared the basketball player to his children, who are in their twenties, adding, “You’re my daughters’ age…they haven’t had that much immersion in nonsense, so don’t lose that joy. The game’s the game. And you’re a hooper.”
