Madonna Performs In A Pink Lingerie Set & Shimmering Accessories During FIFA World Cup Halftime Show

Millions of eyes were on MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, last night, July 19th, as the 2026 FIFA World Cup came to a close with a game between Argentina and Spain.

Aside from watching the intense soccer game, fans were also tuned in for the star-studded halftime show, which featured big names in the music industry - Shakira, BTS, Justin Bieber, and the 80s pop icon herself, Madonna. During the show, she stepped out to sing her song "Music," the popular self-titled track from her 2000 studio album. For her big televised performance during the major sports event, the mom-of-six embraced one of her go-to on-stage looks, a lingerie-inspired outfit. She had on a plunging metallic silver bra, which she paired with a sheer pink lacey top, and some matching bloomer-style bottoms. Adding a bit of an athletic, rough and tumble element to her look, she accessorized with an eye-catching leather bomber jacket, lace-up boots, and some pink fingerless gloves.

She completed the look with Y2K-coded sunglasses and had her blonde hair worn down and loosely curled. According to fashion outlets, her outfit was custom-designed by Swarovski and Saint Laurent, but fans can find a similar-looking bomber jacket with similar vibes, like the Daily Dose Ruched Bomber Jacket from Fashion Nova for $54.99.

Fans React To Madonna's World Cup Look On Social Media

After the broadcast of the massive soccer game ended and pictures, videos, and more from the halftime show were shared on various social media platforms, it didn't take long for users to begin commenting on the 67-year-old's look.

Though some of her loyal, longtime fans thought it was a fun and spunky outfit for the occasion, there were numerous users who weren't as into it. Some wrote on platforms like Facebook that the outfit was a little too whimsical or 'out there,' not looking flattering on her, and not fitting the occasion.

"I give her credit for what she has accomplished, but I wonder who dresses her," commented a Facebook user. "The outfits she wears are always so strange. She should try something more classy for her age."

"The question is who dresses Madonna for these shows?" asked a user.

"[Because] with all the respect, it's ridiculous."

One user wrote that the bright colored outfit made it look as though the singer was "going to a 10-year-old's roller skating birthday party," while another commented, "I love her, but I really wonder what her brother would've said about this look. It was closer to a Muppet costume than Madonna."

Another user echoed that sentiment, writing, "Wasn't actually sure which ones were the muppets," referencing the famous puppets that made an appearance during the halftime show.
