Jennifer Garner has made some more rare comments about how her and Ben Affleck’s divorce impacted the lives of not only their kids, but her and her career, in a new magazine interview.

The actress tends to keep to herself when it comes to discussing her past and current romantic relationships, yet since her and the Batman star’s divorce was especially trendy, people are still asking her questions about how it changed their lives. In an interview with InStyle, Jennifer opened up about how the divorce caused an “upheaval” within their family, and how the healing process prevented her from working for a “long time.” Read more about what she had to say below.

Jennifer Garner Gives New Comments On Her & Ben Affleck's Divorce

Pop culture enthusiasts were surprised and disappointed when it was announced that the two award-winning performers were splitting up and divorcing after ten years of marriage in 2015. After a divorce that wasn't finalized until 2018, not long before Ben reunited with ex Jennifer Lopez, they've kept their comments on the experience somewhat vague.

However, in a new feature interview with InStyle, the Once Upon A Farm founder decided to give a little more context into what the divorce did to her children, and, interestingly, her successful acting career. At that point, she had already starred in a number of esteemed films and series, from 13 Going On 30 to Alias. Though she's still successful, she revealed in the new interview that her and Ben's split caused an intense pause.

"When my kids were little, I worked so little, and then we had such an upheaval in our family, that I really hardly worked for a long time," she admitted.

Jennifer Says She Had To Be 'Radically Kind' To Herself Following The Divorce

In past interviews, the mom-of-three has mentioned some of the work she had to do to heal and grow following her divorce from the Good Will Hunting writer, noting in her latest interview that she had to be "kind" to herself throughout the entire process, focusing on herself just as much as she did on her children.

"You have to raise yourself at the same time," she told the above publication. "And just be so radically kind to yourself about how imperfect it is. And that it is just going to be imperfect. There's no such thing as balance. There's no such thing as doing it right. And when the big moments happen, you are okay, and that's on you to know and understand so your child feels your okayness."

In the meantime, though he had moved on and is allegedly still dealing with the fallout from his second divorce from the Kiss of the Spiderwoman actress, Ben has kept his comments on his first wife quite pleasant, saying they "work together well" in interviews and praising her co-parenting. However, due to her latest comments, it's not looking like there's going to be a romantic spark in their civil relationship anytime soon.
