I received tons of advice about which crib I should buy, but hardly any about which mattress should go in it. The only thing my mom friends told me was not to spend a lot of money because once you put down a mattress pad, your crib sheet, and a quilted sheet saver, you’d have to be in the Princess and the Pea to notice what kind of mattress was underneath.

That said, I still couldn’t bring myself to buy a cheap mattress. Instead, I opted for a middle of the road mattress that wasn’t ridiculously expensive, but not either.

While shopping for mattresses, though, I encountered several moms who wanted only the purest, most supportive, organic mattress money could buy for their new baby. Were you one of them? Did you pay up for premium crib mattress or decide your money would be better spent on something enjoyed while awake?
