Travis Kelce is facing a slew of humiliating headlines after being publicly named as a victim in an incredibly expensive scheme.
The football player has found himself at the center of an unexpected financial scandal after prosecutors named the Kansas City Chiefs tight end as one of the victims of a multimillion-dollar Ponzi scheme. The athlete was reportedly among at least 64 victims connected to the fraud, which involved more than $35 million in investor funds. While the amount he personally invested or lost has not been revealed, his inclusion in the case has quickly sparked plenty of attention online.

Travis Kelce Named A Victim In A $35M Ponzi Scheme
Right now, the newly married Chiefs player has found himself involved in quite the expensive financial scandal.
The scheme was allegedly orchestrated by Siddharth Jawahar, the founder of Texas-based investment company Swiftarc Capital LLC. According to prosecutors, Jawahar began accepting money from investors in 2015, claiming the funds would be invested appropriately. Instead, one of the investments performed poorly, and he allegedly hid the losses from investors while continuing to tell them their money was generating returns.
Prosecutors said Jawahar then diverted millions of dollars toward an extravagant lifestyle, including private-plane flights, luxury hotels, lavish restaurants, and private club memberships. Federal prosecutors said Jawahar received more than $35 million but invested only around $10 million between 2016 and 2023. Travis was mentioned in court as one of the victims when Jawahar was sentenced in St. Louis. He had previously been identified as an investor in a Swiftarc fund in a 2021 Forbes article, alongside NBA players including Tim Hardaway Jr., Gary Harris, and Mason Plumlee. Jawahar pleaded guilty to three counts of wire fraud, was sentenced to 11 years in prison, and was ordered to pay $31.35M to his victims.

Internet Users Show Little Sympathy For Travis On Social Media
Despite the staggering amount of money involved in the alleged fraud, social media users haven't exactly been rushing to offer the football star sympathy. Much of the reaction has focused on the fact that the NFL star is already extremely wealthy and recently married pop superstar Taylor Swift, with some users pointing to the couple's combined financial status.
Users on social media platforms began passing around messages like, "good thing he married a billionaire," and more.
"I'm sure his wife can help replace the lost millions," commented an Instagram user.
"What's $35M to him?" a user asked, with another writing, "Taylor should be handling his finances!"
"He's obviously too incompetent to manage his own affairs," they continued.
"Kelce's got Taylor money; he's good," a user joked. "Just a Ponzi scam gone wrong."
