Tom Cruise Flaunts His 'Digger' Character Transformation At CinemaCon
The action star is back in the spotlight as he's venturing into his next career phase with Digger, the dark comedy set to be released this fall.
The movie, directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu, follows a powerful titular character, played by Tom, who has to stop a drilling operation that could endanger millions. It's one of the first non-Top Gun or Mission Impossible movies the 63-year-old has starred in for a few years, so fans are super excited to see what the eventful film will hold.
At CinemaCon, Tom stood on stage alongside his director as audience viewers got to see more snapshots and teasers from the movie, and reportedly got a good glimpse at Tom's character transformation for Digger. Just like the initial teaser trailer, Tom was seen with thinning, gray hair, as well as a large belly and old-age makeup. You can see the teaser here!

'Digger' Director Calls Tom's Role His Most 'Challenging' One
The Mission Impossible icon and his director had a lot of exciting things to say about the highly anticipated dark comedy, including how the character is one that is supposedly quite different from others Tom has taken on.
While speaking to the crowd and media outlets at this year's CinemaCon in Las Vegas, the director boasted about the dad-of-three's performance and how hard he worked to get into his unique character.
"Watching Tom Cruise becoming Digger Rockwell, I was not prepared for that," he told the crowd, as reported by People. The director continued talking to the crowd about Tom's work, stating, "embodying this character, this is another kind of fearless… this role could be his most challenging, high-wire act."
Tom later described the film as "wild, it's funny, and I can't wait for you all to see it."
