The sentiment is the same all over the world—frontline workers are the true heroes. The coronavirus pandemic has brought to light the hard work and valiant efforts made by all healthcare workers. On International Nurses Day, the British royal family sent a special thank you via video to a handful of nurses in a video compilation shared to the Kensington Palace Instagram on Tuesday, May 12.
Kate Middleton and Prince William were among the royals giving thanks via video. “It’s amazing that you’re able to still continue the support and the care that you would normally provide even under these difficult circumstances,” said the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton.
Although Prince Harry was not a part of the call since he stepped down from royal duties earlier this year, Prince William was present. The prince thanked the nurses for continuing to a “terrific job” said, “I hope you know how appreciated everyone is.”
Other royals on the call included Duchess Camilla and Prince Charles, who recovered from his own battle with COVID-19 in April. “On this International Nurses Day, my family and I want to join in the chorus of thank yous to nursing and midwifery staff all over the country and indeed the world,” said Prince Charles. The royal family has pivoted many of their charitable works to help support people affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
