Melania Trump has been publicizing her Fostering the Future Together Global Coalition Summit for weeks now, calling the gathering of world leaders and their spouses “unprecedented” with the aim of bringing “greater access to technology and education” to children. However, the First Lady not only spent just seven minutes at day one of her summit, but the speech she made in that time has been highly criticized as “cold” and “robotic.” Keep reading for more information.

I commend anyone who could sit through 5 seconds of her speaking, let alone 5 minutes. Pure torture.pic.twitter.com/jrOhx9SYuI

Melania Trump’s Short Speech At Global Summit
The two-day global summit took place on Tuesday, March 24 and Wednesday, March 25 at the State Department in Washington, DC. World leaders from many different countries attended, in addition to “28 best-in-class technology entities,” according to a press release.
At 10:01am on Tuesday, Melania arrived to deliver her opening remarks, thanking everyone for attending and listing the countries with representatives present before reinforcing the goal of the summit.
“Our key driver: to cultivate the skills young people need to be successful in this rapidly evolving world,” she said. “Fostering the Future Together will achieve this by creating innovative learning programs, advocating for supportive education policies, sponsoring new tech-focused legislation, and building strong partnerships between the public and private sectors.”
Though the content of the speech wasn’t bad per se, critics focused more on the tone with which she delivered it, calling it “robotic,” “cold,” and likening it to the vocabulary of “a second grader.” After finishing her speech at 10:08am, Melania left the stage and the event all together.

Social Media Reactions
Across social media platforms, users were shocked that the first lady spent just minutes at an event she planned and hosted, and even more disappointed that her speech was less than inpsiring. "Your daily reminder that she's paid for these events," one person posted on X.
"If Melania made a hasty exit after introductory comments, I wonder who led the summit?" one person asked. "Obviously not her. When other women travel from around the world to be part of the event, the least Melania could have one is join them in the audience."
"I commend anyone who could sit through 5 seconds of her speaking, let alone 5 minutes," another tweeted. "Pure torture."
"What a joke," a final user posted. "Someone behind the scenes probably spent months organizing this event for her and she can't even stay for ten minutes."
