There have been several reports about Queen Elizabeth II‘s death on September 8th, 2022. And one recurring claim was that Meghan Markle was not allowed to visit her at Balmoral Castle in Scotland, the beloved property she was staying at before she passed.
One claim that we have heard over the years is that Prince Harry found out about his grandmother’s death from the media after touching down at Aberdeen Airport, following a chartered flight from Luton Airport in England.
Another claim is that Kate Middleton was told not to visit the late monarch at Balmoral, with the excuse being that only direct family members were allowed in order to keep the former Suits actress away. And it’s something that the Princess of Wales reportedly “resented” the Duchess of Sussex for! And now, more stories about Meghan’s absence from Balmoral have emerged…

King Charles Reportedly Thought It Was 'Unacceptable' For Meghan Markle To Be At Balmoral
In his new book Betrayal: Power, Deceit and the Fight for the Future of the Royal Family, Tom Bower claimed that the As Ever founder was "unwelcome" at Balmoral. And a large part of it was reportedly because she had declined invitations to visit the Queen at Balmoral while she was alive, so King Charles thought it was "unacceptable" that she should attend as she was passing away.
Bower recalled how King Charles had been told that his mother was seriously ill via a phone call, and immediately travelled to Balmoral by helicopter. He reportedly called sons Prince William and Prince Harry and advised them to get to Northolt Airport in West London as soon as possible, where a jet would be waiting to take them to Scotland to see their grandmother. But he was not banking on Meghan accompanying them!
Bower wrote: "When Charles heard that Meghan intended to come, he called Harry. That was unacceptable, said Charles. Underlying Charles's anger that fateful morning was his mother's disappointment that the Sussexes had attacked the very institution which gave them so much."
"Since Meghan had refused the Queen's invitations to Balmoral in the Queen's lifetime, she was unwelcome at her death," Bower continued, before reiterating that she shouldn't have been allowed to attend due to the negative things she had said about the royal family, including the bombshells spilled on the Oprah interview one year prior.

Prince Harry Was 'Outraged' By King Charles' Reaction
"Sharing his grief with Meghan, who maligned the monarchy, was unthinkable, said Charles. He believed that, to her dying day, his mother was shocked by Harry's disloyalty," he went on, before adding that Prince Harry was "outraged" by the reaction.
"Charles ended their argument by revealing that Kate would not be coming, so Meghan had not been picked on," Bower added, which aligns with previous reports over the years.
Prince Harry touched on this in his bombshell memoir Spare, saying that his father had since tried to explain the reasons for wanting Meghan to stay behind – while also confirming Kate wouldn't be there either – "but they didn't make any sense at all" and were "disrespectful."

Kate Middleton Stayed Behind So Meghan Markle Wouldn't Come
Royal biographer Robert Jobson, who wrote Our King: Charles III: The Man and the Monarch Revealed, also referenced the Princess of Wales' strategic absence, saying: "Harry was insisting Meghan travel with him to Scotland as the Queen's life ebbed away but the King said it was only for the children and grandchildren to be with the Queen."
He went on to write that King Charles said: "If Catherine doesn't come, Meghan can't either, it's not appropriate for wives to attend." He went on: "Privately, he wanted to say Meghan was not welcome. But he couldn't say that to Harry, so he personally intervened and asked Kate to stay back so that it was fairer on Meghan."
