Kylie Jenner has caused a stir on social media, as she has been slammed for seemingly promoting and glamorizing smoking after sharing a picture of herself smoking a cigarette while wearing a sexy black slip dress.
The Kylie Cosmetics founder shared a 14-photo carousel with her 381M Instagram followers on July 15th, simply captioning the post: “july.”
The 28-year-old beauty mogul is no stranger to dividing fans and has faced backlash many times over the years, from initially denying cosmetic surgery, which she later admitted to, to the safety of her cosmetics labs, to using private jets for 15-minute journeys, and so much more. And her latest post might just be up there with some of the most controversial!

Kylie Jenner Smokes A Cigarette While Wearing A Black Slip Dress
The mom-of-two, who shares daughter Stormi and son Aire with ex Travis Scott, gave fans a glimpse into what she has been up to this month with a series of photos featuring beautiful scenery, her pets, a martini glass with olives, and several glamorous outfits.
The carousel included Jenner, who is now dating Wonka star Timothée Chalamet, posing in a white co-ord, a blue printed bikini with a matching cover-up, and a black slip dress, with each look proving just as stylish as the last.
However, it was the final slide, which showed her wearing a black lace-front slip dress and a face mask while holding a cigarette in one hand, and placing it on her lips, and a glass of white wine in the other, that quickly became the most talked-about image.

Fan Comments
Many fans took to the comments section to criticize the photo, with some accusing the Khy founder of glamorizing cigarettes and worrying that celebrities and influencers could make smoking appear trendy again.
"Smoking is not cool," declared one unimpressed fan. "Legit can smell it from here," commented a second, as a third begged: "Please don't smoke on social media, we don't want this to become a trend again."
"Have y'all noticed influencers and celebrities are subtly promoting it lately?" observed a fourth, as a fifth asked: "Why are cigs back in style? Please, no. They stink." A sixth urged her to "stop advertising this as cool," while a seventh referenced Chalamet and chimed in: "Apparently since her boyfriend has a nicotine addiction she decided to join him."
"The cigarette thing is embarrassing and oddly regressive for 2026!" exclaimed an eighth, while a ninth referenced her controversial Meta glasses and slammed: "Smoking and Meta glasses, not cool." Another agreed, writing: "Promoting smoking ain't cool boo."
A tenth pointed out the damage cigarettes can have on the skin, writing: "As someone who makes $$$ selling skincare shouldn't you know first-hand that there is so much evidence that smoking cigarettes damages your dermis and ages you rapidly? Why show that when you have a whole line?"
However, some fans came to her defense, with some thinking she was just holding the cigarette for the picture, while others reminded people that she is an adult and can do what she wants. "Maybe she just wants a ciggy, not a vape… ya know, like an adult," said one fan in her defense. "I think she is just pretending to smoke," suggested a second, while a third said: "She's doing all Hollywood glam pose like an actress in Italy in 1960."
